Korba is a city and an industrial area in Korba District in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. Korba was erstwhile part of Bilaspur District before 25 May 1998 later that Korba was made a separate District for ease of administration but it is still under Bilaspur Division. Korba is called power capital of Chhattisgarh due to its Coal reserves and Industrial base for multiple thermal based power plants from Public sector like NTPC Limited, CSEB from State of Chhattisgarh as well as from private sector apart from Power plants Korba has the Asia's second largest and India's largest open cast coal mine in Gevra area of Korba Coalfield. Korba District
Korba District is an administrative district of Chhattisgarh state in central India. The headquarter of this district is Korba. History The district is named for the Korwa tribe that inhabits the northern part of Chhattisgarh. Korba was formerly known as Gourigarh. The district was originally ruled by the Haihaiyas until it was conquered by the Marathas during their expansion into Chhattisgarh. Various parts of the district were controlled by small zamindars belonging to a variety of communities such as Gond and Kanwar. The Korwas managed to overthrow the rulers of Gourigarh and ruled the region until being displaced by the Rajputs under Ratan Singh. These rulers managed to retain their lands during the arrival of Marathas and British. In 1861 Korba became part of the newly-formed Bilaspur district. Korba ( aeb, قربة '), ancient Curubis, is a town in Tunisia on the eastern shore of the Cap Bon. It was the place of exile of the Carthaginian bishop Cyprian in the year leading up to his martyrdom. Modern Korba is in the Nabeul Governorate and had a population of 48,314 in 2014. History Ancient geographers and itineraries mention the town Curubis on the African coast between Clupea (modern Kelibia) and Neapolis (modern Nabeul). The earliest historical record is an inscription from the time of the Roman civil war, which records that the Pompeian generals P. Attius Varus and Gaius Considius Longus fortified the town in 48—47 BC. Józef Korbas
Józef Franciszek Korbas (11 November 1914 – 2 October 1981) was a Polish footballer who played as a forward. He played for Cracovia and the Poland national team during the interwar period. Club career In Cracovia, Korbas played from 1935 to 1939. In 69 games during that time, he scored 54 goals. International career Korbas is famous for his excellent national team debut. On 12 September 1937 in Sofia, versus Bulgaria, he scored 3 goals and the match ended in 3–3 draw. In the history of the Poland national team, only two players managed to score a hat-trick in their first game, the other being Zygmunt Steuermann. Korbas's second and last match in white-red jersey took place in Warsaw, on 25 September 1938 (Poland - Jugoslavia 4-4). In this game, he also scored a goal.
