Hunter Valley Coal Chain
The Hunter Valley Coal Chain (HVCC) is the chain of coal delivery in New South Wales, Australia from (mainly open-cut) coal mines in the Hunter Region to the Port of Newcastle and domestic coal-fired power stations in the Hunter Valley. The HVCC essentially follows the path of the Hunter River travelling south-east from the mining areas in the Hunter Valley to Newcastle. The HVCC mainly deals in the sea-borne export coal trade, especially to Asia (Japan and Korea in particular). It is one of six major coal chains in Australia: * four in Queensland: Abbot Point, Dalrymple Bay/ Hay Point, Gladstone and Brisbane; and * two in New South Wales: the Ports of Newcastle (also known as Port Waratah) and Port Kembla. Sandgate Flyover
The Sandgate Flyover is a grade-separated railway flyover that carries the Main North Line across the Kooragang Island line, located in Sandgate, in the City of Newcastle local government area of New South Wales, Australia. Description Situated to the west of the Sandgate station, the overpass was built in 2006 by the Australian Rail Track Corporation to allow coal trains to access the Port of Kooragang without conflicting with services on the Main North Line. The previous at-grade junction required that approximately 120 coal trains per day had to cross from the coal lines over the main lines to reach the branch line to the port. Stockton Bridge
The Stockton Bridge is a road bridge that carries Nelson Bay Road across the Hunter River, between Kooragang and Stockton in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. The bridge and Nelson Bay Road serve as the main transport route between Newcastle and the Tilligerry and Tomaree peninsulas in Port Stephens. Tomago is a combined industrial/semi-rural suburb of the Port Stephens Council, Port Stephens Local government in Australia, local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It is located just north of the Hunter River, New South Wales, Hunter River and west of the body of water known as Fullerton Cove. Tomago means "sweet water" in the local Australian Aborigines, Aboriginal language. Tarro () is a north-western suburb of the City of Newcastle, Newcastle City Council Local government in Australia, local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. Fullerton Cove
Fullerton Cove is a rural suburb of the Port Stephens Council, Port Stephens Local government in Australia, local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia, located just north of Fern Bay and adjacent to Fullerton Cove, from which the suburb gets its name. The Worimi people are the traditional owners of the Port Stephens area. At the 2021 Australian census the population of Fullerton Cove was 745. Like Fern Bay, Fullerton Cove lies to the west of the Tasman Sea. Although the entire coastline is part of Stockton Beach there is no public access to the beach from Fullerton Cove.
