''Knattspyrnufélagið Fram'' (''Fram Football Club'') is a professional Icelandic sports club, best known for its football and handball teams. It was founded on 1 May 1908 in Reykjavík. It was based at Safamýri, in the Háaleiti og Bústaðir district near Reykjavík city centre before slowly moving operations to the newly established Grafarholt district. The football team currently plays in the top division, the Besta deild karla after being promoted in the 2021 season. The club also has strong handball teams; the men's team won the Icelandic championship in 2013. Other sports offered by the club include basketball, taekwondo and skiing. Football Fram is one of the most successful clubs in Iceland: it has eighteen national championship titles and seven national cup titles, and it is regarded as one of the biggest teams in Iceland. Guðmundur Torfason
Guðmundur "Gunni" Torfason (born 13 December 1961, in Vestmannaeyjar) is an Icelandic former footballer and manager. Playing career Club A striker, he became top goalscorer in the Icelandic league in 1986 with 19 goals when he was also named the Player of the Year. He moved to continental Europe with Belgian sides Beveren and Winterslag who later merged with Waterschei to become Racing Genk. Guðmundur became the first ever goalscorer of the new club when he scored against KV Mechelen. He then had a spell with Austrians Rapid Vienna, before joining St Mirren in 1989. He became club top scorer three seasons in a row. In 1992 Guðmundur left St Mirren for St Johnstone. In 1995, he moved for a brief spell at Doncaster Rovers. Günter Theodor Netzer (born 14 September 1944) is a German former professional football player, executive and pundit. He achieved great success in Germany with Borussia Mönchengladbach in the early 1970s and, after moving to Spain in 1973, with Real Madrid. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. Ríkharður Jónsson (12 November 1929 – 14 February 2017) was an Icelandic football player and manager. He made his debut for the Icelandic national team in 1947, and got 33 caps and 17 goals until 1965. This made him top goalscorer of the national team.
