Klaus Harnisch
Klaus Harnisch (born 13 December 1933) is a German director, dramaturg and cultural manager. Life Harness was born in Halle/Saale. After graduating from high school, he studied music theatre directing with Heinz Rückert in Halle (then ) and in Berlin (Deutsche Hochschule für Musik, now Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler") from 1952 to 1957 and from 1972 to 1974 in distance learning cultural studies at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. From 1957, Harnisch worked as a director at various theatres in the GDR and from 1972 to 1981 as chief dramaturg of the music theatre at the Landestheater Halle (now Halle Opera House). In 1979 he wrote the libretto for the opera ''Büchner'' by Friedrich Schenker, which premiered in 1987 in the Apollo Hall of the Berlin State Opera. Friedrich Schenker
Friedrich Schenker (23 December 19428 February 2013) was a German avant-garde composer and trombone player. Life Born in the German town of Zeulenroda, Schenker learned trombone and piano as a child and made his first compositional attempts at the age of 10. At the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin he studied trombone from 1961 to 1964 with Helmut Stachowiak and music composition with Eisler's student Günter Kochan. During his studies he taught himself the technique of dodecaphony and played in a jazz band. After the instrumental Staatsexamen in 1964 he was employed as principal trombonist in the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Leipzig until 1982. He continued his composition studies in evening classes at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig until in 1968 with Fritz Geißler. Peter Gülke
Peter Ludwig Gülke (born 29 April 1934) is a German conductor and musicologist. Biography Born in Weimar, Gülke studied cello and musicology at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt, Weimar. He completed his doctorate in philosophy in Leipzig in 1958, followed in 1985 by his professorial thesis at the Technical University of Berlin. In 1976 he became conductor at the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden and in 1981 he was appointed Principal Conductor in Weimar. From 1986 to 1996 he was Principal Conductor in the City of Wuppertal. From 1996 to 2001 he was a professor of conducting at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg and from 1999 to 2002 professor of musicology at the University of Basel. The Peaceful Revolution (german: Friedliche Revolution), as a part of the Revolutions of 1989, was the process of sociopolitical change that led to the opening of East Germany's borders with the West, the end of the ruling of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) (communist regime) in the German Democratic Republic (GDR or "East Germany") in 1989 and the transition to a parliamentary democracy, which later enabled the reunification of Germany in October 1990. Berlin State Opera
The (), also known as the Berlin State Opera (german: Staatsoper Berlin), is a listed building on Unter den Linden boulevard in the historic center of Berlin, Germany. Halle Opera House
The Halle Opera House () is an opera house in Halle, Saxony-Anhalt. Originally named the Halle Town Theatre (), the theatre was built in 1886. A bomb attack on 31 March 1945 destroyed much of the original building. Restorative work ensued a few years later, and the theatre reopened in 1951 under the name Landestheater Halle.
