Kitten's Joy Stakes
The Kitten's Joy Stakes is a Listed American Thoroughbred horse race for horses three years old at the distance of one and one-sixteenths mile on the turf held annually in late January or early February at Gulfstream Park, Hallandale Beach, Florida. The event currently carries a purse of $150,000. History The race was inaugurated in 2012 over the distance of miles after Kitten's Joy who was a multiple graded stakes winner and the 2004 American Champion Turf Horse. Kitten's Joy also won the Grade III Palm Beach Stakes at Gulfstream Park where this race is held. The event was shortened in one mile in 2015 and once again in 2018 to the current distance of about furlongs. In 2020 the event was upgraded to a Grade III. In 2021 the distance of the event was increased to 1 mile. The 2013 winner Charming Kitten and the 2017 winner Kitten's Cat were both sired by Kitten's Joy. Alan Garcia (jockey)
Alan Garcia (born October 2, 1985) is a Peruvian thoroughbred horse racing jockey. He was Peru's leading apprentice jockey in 2003 and in that same year he began racing in the United States at the Meadowlands Racetrack where he was also the leading apprentice. His father and grandfather were both jockeys in Peru. He is currently married and lives in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, with his wife and 3 sons. Garcia got his big break in 2007 when he won the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf. This was his first ever Breeders' Cup ride. The win, on Lahudood, meant that he was the third jockey ever to win his first Breeders' Cup race in his first attempt. Garcia is currently one of the top jockeys on the Canadian Thoroughbred scene at Canada's most prestigious track Woodbine. Anna Rose "Rosie" Napravnik (born February 9, 1988) is a former American Thoroughbred horse race, Thoroughbred horse racing jockey and two-time winner of the Kentucky Oaks. Beginning her career in 2005, she was regularly ranked among the top jockeys in North America in both earnings and total races won. By 2014 she had been in the top 10 by earnings three years in a row and was the highest-ranked woman jockey in North America. In 2011, she won the Louisiana Derby for her first time and was ninth in the 2011 Kentucky Derby with the horse Pants on Fire (horse), Pants on Fire. Michael Patrick Francesa (born March 20, 1954) is an American sports-radio talk-show host. Together with Chris Russo, he launched '' Mike and the Mad Dog'' in 1989 on WFAN in New York City, which ran until 2008 and is one of the most successful sports-talk radio programs in American history. His Grade I wins included the Jaipur Stakes both in 2021 and 2022 at Belmont Park, and the Fourstardave Handicap at Saratoga Race Course in 2022 and 2023. Background Casa Creed is a bay horse who in Kentucky by Silver Springs Stud, a daughter of 2012 Malibu Stakes winner Jimmy Creed out of the Bellamy Road unraced mare Achalaya.
