Duke of Teck () is a title which was created twice in Germanic lands. It was first borne from 1187 to 1439 by the head of a cadet line of the Kingdom of Germany, German ducal House of Zähringen, known as the "first House of Teck". The seat of this territory was Burg Teck, Castle Teck in the Duchy of Swabia (from 1512 part of the County of Württemberg). The title was recreated in 1871 by King Charles I of Württemberg for his cousin Francis, Duke of Teck, Francis, who as the product of a morganatic marriage did not have a right to titles of nobility as a member of the House of Württemberg. His descendants settled in the United Kingdom and married into the British royal family. Teck Railway
The Teck Railway () is a branch line in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, connecting Wendlingen am Neckar with Kirchheim unter Teck and Oberlenningen. In Deutsche Bahn’s timetable it has route number 761. A branch line once ran from Kirchheim to Weilheim an der Teck, but it is now closed. History The section from Wendlingen (then called Unterboihingen) to Kirchheim opened on 21 September 1864. Its original operator was the Kirchheim Railway Company (''Kirchheimer Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft''), which was the first private railway company in Württemberg. It was later taken over by the Royal Württemberg State Railways. On 1 October 1899, the first train ran to Oberlenningen after the line had been extended there. In 1975, a large section of the line was moved in Kirchheim, the old station near to the centre of the town was abandoned and a new station was built on the southern outskirts. Lai Teck
Lai Teck (real name Phạm Văn Đắc or Hoang A Nhac; 1901–1947) was a leader of the Communist Party of Malaya and Malayan People's Anti-Japanese Army. A person of mixed Sino-Vietnamese descent, prior to his arrival in Malaya, Lai Teck was believed to have led his life as Truong Phuoc Dat until 1934, during which Dat disappeared and Lai Teck appeared. Biography Lai Teck was born under the name of Hoang A Nhac or Phạm Văn Đắc in the Bà Rịa (now Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu province) in 1901. According to his successor Chin Peng, he curiously chose the party alias 'Wright' which, given the Chinese pronunciation of English words beginning with the letter 'r' soon became distorted to Lai Te. This was further mangled, depending on who was writing or speaking English, to 'Loi Teck', 'Lai Teck' and 'Lighter'. Teck Castle
Teck Castle () was a duke, ducal castle in the kingdom of Württemberg, immediately to the north of the Swabian Jura and south of the town of Kirchheim unter Teck (now in the district of Esslingen (district), Esslingen). The castle took its name from the Teckberg ridge, high, which it crowned. It was destroyed in the German Peasants' War (1525). The site's current buildings were constructed during the 19th and 20th centuries on the ruins of the original castle. Buildings In 1889, an observation tower (called the ''Teckturm'') with a refuge shelter was built and inaugurated on 1 September 1889. A hall was built in 1933 near the tower, called Mörike Hall (''Mörikehalle''). Since 6 June 1941, the buildings have been owned by the Schwäbischer Albverein. Teckberg (; also Teck) is a mountain located in Landkreis Esslingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It stands at an elevation of () and is crowned by the castle Teck. Geography Teckberg protrudes approximately northward from the edge of the Swabian Jura, towering over the Albvorland by and overlooking the Lauter (Neckar) valley by . Flanked by the mid-high foothills Hörnle and Hohenbol to the north and northwest, both of which encompass chimneys of the Swabian volcano, it serves as a notable landmark.
