Kinks-Size
''Kinks-Size'' is the second US-only album by the English band the Kinks, released in 1965. It consists of songs that were left out of US presses of the Kinks' previous albums, as well as songs from UK-released EPs. The album takes its name and all four tracks from the ''Kinksize Session'' EP, adding two tracks left off the US version of their debut LP ("I'm a Lover Not a Fighter" and "Revenge") and their two recent hit singles (" All Day and All of the Night" and "Tired of Waiting for You") and their respective B-sides ("I Gotta Move" and "Come On Now"). This was the Kinks' second-most successful album of the 1960s in the US, reaching #13 (''Greatest Hits!'', a compilation album, reached #9). The album was issued in the US and Canada in mono and stereo versions. It was reissued once on cassette in the US in 1988 and once on CD in Japan in 2018, but has otherwise remained out of print since 1988. Kinksize Session
''Kinksize Session'' is the first EP released by the Kinks in the UK in 1964, a month after their debut LP. The tracks were all exclusive to this release and it includes some original compositions. ''Kinks'' is the debut album by the English rock band the Kinks, released in 1964. It was released with three tracks omitted as ''You Really Got Me'' in the United States. The album was re-released in 1998 in the UK on Castle Records with twelve bonus tracks. This reissue was itself reissued in 2004 on the Sanctuary label. A deluxe edition was released on 28 March 2011. Reception '' Consequence of Sound'' listed the album as a key example of proto-punk, observing “lean aggression” and a “jolting”, “in-your-face” approach, and described their rendition of Chuck Berry’s “Beautiful Delilah” as the first punk rock cover. Shel Talmy
Sheldon Talmy (born August 11, 1937) is an American record producer, songwriter and arranger, best known for his work in the UK in the 1960s with the Who, the Kinks and many others. Talmy arranged and produced hits such as "You Really Got Me" by the Kinks, "My Generation" by the Who, and "Friday on My Mind" by the Easybeats. He also played guitar or percussion on some of his productions. Early career Sheldon Talmy was born in Chicago, Illinois, United States, and from an early age he was interested both in music (early rock, rhythm and blues, folk music and country music) as well as the technology of the recording studio. At the age of 13, Talmy appeared regularly on the popular NBC-TV television show ''Quiz Kids'', a question-and-answer program from Chicago. ''Kinda Kinks'' is the second album by English rock band the Kinks, released in 1965. Recorded and released within two weeks after returning from a tour in Asia, Ray Davies and the band were not satisfied with the production. The single "Tired of Waiting for You" was a #1 hit on the UK Singles Charts. Production The album was recorded immediately after the return of the group from an Asian tour, and was completed and released within two weeks.Kinda Kinks CD liner notes Consequently, the production was rushed and, according to Ray Davies, the band was not completely satisfied with the final cuts. Louie Louie
"Louie Louie" is a rhythm and blues song written and composed by American musician Richard Berry in 1955, recorded in 1956, and released in 1957. It is best known for the 1963 hit version by the Kingsmen and has become a standard in pop and rock. Released in the United States in August 1966 by Reprise Records, the album mostly consists of singles issued by the group between 1964 and 1966. The band's first greatest hits album, it remained on the ''Billboard'' Top LPs chart for over a year, peaking at number 9, making it the Kinks' highest charting album in the US. Larry Page (born Leonard Davies, c. 1938, in Hayes, Hillingdon, Middlesex) is an English former pop singer and record producer of the late 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s. Biography After changing his name to Larry Page in honour of Larry Parks, the star of ''The Jolson Story'' (1946), the teenager began a recording career as a singer. Page tried to magnify his fame through the wearing of unusually large Glasses, spectacles, as "Larry Page the Teenage Rage". The title was originally coined by Jack Bentley, the showbusiness correspondent from '' The Sunday Pictorial''. He toured the United Kingdom with Cliff Richard and appeared at top venues, including the Royal Albert Hall. Richard Berry, Jr. (April 11, 1935 – January 23, 1997) was an American singer, songwriter and musician, who performed with many Los Angeles doo-wop and close harmony groups in the 1950s, including The Flairs and The Robins. He is best known as the composer and original performer of the rock standard "Louie Louie". The song became a hit for The Kingsmen and others, and it is one of the most recorded songs of all time; however, Berry received little financial benefit for writing it until the 1980s, having signed away his rights to the song in 1959. In the same year, he wrote and released "Have Love, Will Travel", which has been recorded by many other artists. Early life Berry was born in Extension, south of Monroe, Louisiana, and moved with his family to Los Angeles as a baby.
