Kingsmead School, Enfield
Kingsmead School is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in Enfield, north London, England. The school converted to academy status in October 2010, and was previously a community school under the direct control of Enfield London Borough Council. The 2017 results were in the highest possible category of ‘Well Above Average’ at A Level (top 4% nationally) and ‘Above Average’ at GCSE (top 18% nationally). Kingsmead had a poor reputation until the early 2000s, when it began to rapidly improve. It has consistently produced above national average outcomes for students over a number of years. In 2006, Kingsmead became a specialist arts college in the visual and performing arts. In 2007, Kingsmead School was the first school in Enfield to be rated 'outstanding' in all categories assessed by Ofsted after a new rating system was introduced. Kingsmead School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form. Established in 1938, it is located in Hednesford, Staffordshire, England. The head teacher is Maria Mincher.. Approximately 1,300 mixed gender pupils are educated here. The school's intake is from 11–18 ( Years 7–13), including a sixth form. History Since its establishment in 1938, the school has had several name changes. Originally it was known as Littleworth School. In the early days there were separate boys' and girls' schools. During World War II, the school accommodated children who had been evacuated. Subsequently, the title changed to Kingsmead Comprehensive School and then to Kingsmead High School. It was renamed Kingsmead Technology College when it became a specialist school in 2002. Kingsmead School was a co-educational independent day school for boys and girls aged 2 to 16 and, from 2018 until its closure, offered a sixth form for students up to age 18. The school is located in Hoylake, on the Wirral Peninsula. The school was founded in 1904 by Arthur Watts, a Baptist minister and mathematician. In 1911 the school motto was selected, "Dominus Vitae Robur" – The Lord is the Strength of my Life. Kingsmead is a member of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS). Kingsmead School (KS) is a coeducational state school in Wiveliscombe, Somerset, England, serving the north-west of Taunton Deane district. It had 804 pupils between the ages of 11 and 16 years in 2013. The school was awarded Beacon School status in 1998 which was renewed in 2002. In September 2000, Kingsmead gained Language College status. In December 2009 Kingsmead received an Outstanding judgement from Ofsted and Good in 2013. In April 2011, Kingsmead became an Academy. History The original block at Kingsmead was modelled in a late Art Deco style, hence its similarities in appearance to an mid-century-modern cinema. Kingsmead College is a private girls' elementary and high school situated in Melrose, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. The school is located next to the Gautrain Rosebank Station. Kingsmead College caters for girls from Grade 000 to Grade 12 and has around 870 students. History Kingsmead College was founded by Doris Vera Thompson in October 1933 and in 1934 opened its doors to 136 girls, from Grade 1 to Post-Matriculation. Over the years, houses and gardens adjacent to the original property were purchased, providing further buildings needed to cater for a steadily increasing amount of young girls coming to the school. Doris Vera Thompson helped to plan St Brigid's Chapel on the school grounds and she considered the simple building to be the “heart of the school.” From 1939 onwards, the Boarders used the Chapel regularly until 1999, when the Boarding House was closed.
