Kim Nilsson (Floorball)
Kim Nilsson (born March 28, 1988) is a Swedish floorball player. He currently plays for FBC Kalmarsund, a club in the Swedish Super League. He has also played for Grasshopper Club Zürich in NLA and AIK in SSL. He is a part of Sweden's national floorball team, and is the top goal scorer all time for Sweden. In a poll conducted by the Swedish magazine Innebandymagazinet, reporters and national team coaches have voted Nilsson the world's best floorball player twice; in 2014 and 2020. Sweden Men's National Floorball Team
The Sweden men's national floorball team is the national floorball team of Sweden, and a member of the International Floorball Federation. It has won ten out of 14 men's world championships (1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2012, 2014, 2020 and 2022). Its dominance has decreased somewhat though – in 1996 the overall goal difference was 83–3, while ten years later, the team suffered its first draw in the tournament versus Switzerland, and needed sudden victory to defeat Finland in the final. In 2008, Finland defeated Sweden in overtime, giving Sweden its first loss in the World Floorball Championships. This loss happened in the final match, and therefore Sweden did not retain their 12-year title as world floorball champions. In 2012, Sweden defeated Finland and won the title for the first time in six years. Floorball is a type of floor hockey with five players and a goalkeeper in each team. Men and women play indoors with sticks and a plastic ball with holes. Matches are played in three twenty-minute periods. The sport of bandy also played a role in the game's development. The game was invented in Sweden in the late 1960s. The basic rules were established in 1979 when the first floorball club in the world, Sala IBK, from Sala, was founded in Sweden. Official rules for matches were first written down in 1981. The sport is organized internationally by the International Floorball Federation (IFF). As of 2019, there were about 377,000 registered floorball players worldwide, up from around 300,000 in 2014. Swedish Super League (men's Floorball)
Swedish Super League ( sv, Svenska Superligan för herrar; formerly, ''Elitserien'') is the highest league in the league system of Swedish floorball and comprises the top 14 Swedish floorball teams. The first season began in 1995–96. The season ends with a play-off and a final. The champion of the league is eligible to compete at the Champions Cup. History The Swedish Super League was founded in 1995 under the name Elitserien. It then replaced the Division 1 league as the high level floorball league of Sweden. Between the seasons 1995–96 and 1998–99 the league was divided into a northern and a southern group. Since the 1999–2000 season, it is a national league. FBC Kalmarsund
FBC Kalmarsund, up to 2011 known as Färjestadens IBK, is a Swedish floorball team, from Färjestaden, Öland, that plays in the Swedish Division 1 South. In the 2007–08 season, they played in Swedish Super League, the highest league of Swedish floorball. They ended last and were relegated to Division 1 South for the 2008–2009 season. They now play in the Swedish Super League again. History The club was founded by a couple of friends in 1990. In 1998, FIBK men's team played in the Swedish Division 5. The Lidl Unihockey Prime League is the highest league in Swiss floorball. Between the season 2007/08 and 2012/13 the league was called ''Swiss Mobiliar League'' (SML). It was named after the insurance company ''Mobiliar''. Since the Season 2022/23 it is called Lidl Unihockey Prime League (L-UPL). Prior to 2007 and between 2013 and 2022 it was called Nationalliga A (NLA). The men's L-UPL is composed of twelve teams and the women's league of ten teams (eight until season 2016/17). AIK Innebandy
AIK Innebandy (often referred to as AIK IBF or simply AIK) is a Swedish floorball club and a department of AIK. The men's team played in Sweden's highest division, SSL, from the year 2000, but was relegated to Herrar Allsvenskan Norra in 2018 after ending the season 2017/2018 as second last. AIK won their first championship in 2006 when they defeated Pixbo Wallenstam IBK in the SSL final. In 2009 they won their second championship, beating Warberg IC in the final. The Men's World Floorball Championship is an international floorball competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of the International Floorball Federation (IFF), the sport's global governing body. It is distinct from the Women's World Floorball Championship, which is for women's teams. Champions Cup (floorball)
The Champions Cup is floorball tournament organized by the International Floorball Federation for the best clubs from the top four countries according to IFF World Ranking. As of 2023, those are Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, both for men and women. The tournament takes place every year in January both for men's and women's teams, that won in the previous season in their national leagues. Those are Finnish F-liiga, Swedish Swedish Super League (men's floorball), Svenska Superligan, Czech men's Superliga florbalu and women's Extraliga žen ve florbale and Swiss Lidl Unihockey Prime League (Floorball), Unihockey Prime League. That means, there are eight teams in the tournament in total. Since 2024, winners of national cups will also attend. The competing countries alternate in hosting the tournament.
