The Rt. Hon. Silver Oliver PC (1736 – 21 November 1798) was an Irish landowner and Privy Counsellor politician who owned Castle Oliver in County Limerick, Ireland. Early life He was the son of Jane Katherine (née Silver) Oliver and Robert Oliver, who also sat in the Irish House of Commons for Kilmallock. His paternal grandfather was Robert Oliver (son of Charles Oliver who lived at Clonodfoy, County Limerick) and was also an Irish MP for Kilmallock and County Limerick. Career He held the office of Member of Parliament for Kilmallock in 1757. He held the office of High Sheriff of County Limerick in 1764. He held the office of Member of Parliament for County Limerick in 1768, serving until 1776. In 1769, he was appointed Privy Councillor. William Blakeney, 1st Baron Blakeney
Lieutenant General William Blakeney, 1st Baron Blakeney, Order of the Bath, KB, 7 September 1672 to 20 September 1761, was an Irish-born officer who served in the British army from 1695 until 1756. From 1725 to 1757, he also sat in the Parliament of Ireland as Member of Parliament, MP for Kilmallock (Parliament of Ireland constituency), Kilmallock, although he rarely attended. A tough, reliable and courageous soldier, Blakeney was also known for his innovative approach to weapons drill and training. One of the few officers to bolster their reputation during the Jacobite rising of 1745, he was rewarded by being appointed Lieutenant-Governor of the British-held island of Menorca in 1748. When the Seven Years' War began in April 1756, the French occupied most of the island, although Blakeney and the garrison of St. Philip's Castle, Fort St. Philip held out for 70 days.
