''Kill or Be Killed'' is a 1950 American crime film directed by Max Nosseck and written by Arnold Lipp, Max Nosseck and Lawrence L. Goldman. The film stars Lawrence Tierney, George Coulouris, Marissa O'Brien, Rudolph Anders, Lopes da Silva and Veloso Pires. It was released in April 1950 by Eagle-Lion Films. The film's sets were designed by the art director Erwin Scharf. Max Nosseck
Max Nosseck (19 September 1902 – 29 September 1972) was a German film director, actor and screenwriter. Biography Nosseck was born in Nakel, then in Prussia, but now in Poland. Nosseck established himself as a director in the German Film Industry, but due to his Jewish background he was forced to emigrate following the Nazi takeover in 1933. He directed films in Spain, the Netherlands and United States. Following the Second World War he returned to work in the German and Austrian industries. Nosseck married three times: to Austrian actress Olly Gebauer, to German actress Ilse Steppat, and to the writer and aviator Genevieve Haugen. He died in Bad Wiessee. Helga Liné
Helga Liné (; born Helga Lina Stern on 14 July 1932) is a German-born Portuguese-Spanish-American film actress and circus acrobat best known for her work in the horror genre of film. She made 132 appearances mostly in film between 1941 and 2006, but most of her work has been in Spanish cinema. Biography Helga Liné was born Helga Lina Stern on 14 July 1932 in Berlin, Germany. During the Nazi regime she fled Germany at a young age with her family, and took refuge in Portugal. At the age of just 9 she made her first film appearance there in the film ''Porto de Abrigo''. Helga was a dancer and acrobat in circus performances in Portugal throughout the 1940s and later became a model. In the 1950s she made further film appearances, but her career took off after she moved to Madrid in 1960. Eagle-Lion Films was a British-American film production company owned by J. Arthur Rank intended to distribute British productions in the United States. In 1947, it acquired Robert R. Young's PRC Pictures, a small American production company, to produce low-budget features to accompany its British releases. The studio, which was located at 7324 Santa Monica Boulevard (one block away from the Samuel Goldwyn Studios), became a producer of B-movies. Eagle-Lion was also a film distribution company under the name of Eagle-Lion Distributors Limited in the United Kingdom and Eagle-Lion Films Inc. in the United States. Walter Jurmann
Walter Jurmann (October 12, 1903 - June 17, 1971) was an Austrian-born composer of popular music renowned for his versatility who, after emigrating to the United States, specialized in film scores and soundtracks. Biography Born in Vienna, Jurmann received a classical education, taking his ''Matura'' exams in 1921. For some time he studied medicine but in 1924, after working as a lounge pianist in a posh hotel in the Semmering area of Lower Austria, abandoned his studies altogether in order to pursue a career in music. He moved to Berlin and soon became successful with tunes such as "Du bist nicht die Erste". Probably his most famous 1920s song is " Veronika, der Lenz ist da", popularized by the all-male a cappella ensemble, the Comedian Harmonists. Erwin Scharf (art Director)
Erwin Scharf (1901–1972) was an Austrian art director. He worked in the German film industry during the Weimar Era, often collaborating with Robert Neppach on set designs. Because of his Jewish heritage he left Germany following the Nazi takeover in 1933, and spent the next five years working in a variety of European countries. This included the 1937 Carol Reed-directed film '' Who's Your Lady Friend?'' in Britain.Evans p.173 In 1938 he settled in the United States.
