Khortha Language
Khortha (also romanized as Kortha or Khotta) or alternatively classified as Eastern Magahi is a language which is considered dialect of Magahi language spoken in the Indian state of Jharkhand, mainly in 16 districts of two divisions: North Chotanagpur and Santhal Pargana. Khortha is spoken by the Sadaans as native language and used by the tribal as a link language. It is most spoken language of Jharkhand. Geographical Distribution Khortha is spoken in North Chota Nagpur division and Santal Pargana division of Jharkhand. The 13 districts are Hazaribagh, Koderma, Giridih, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Chatra, Ramgarh, Deoghar, Dumka, Sahebganj, Pakur, Godda, and Jamtara. Classification George Grierson classified Khortha as a dialect of Magahi language in his linguist survey. But recent study demonstrate that Khortha is similar to other Bihari languages of Jharkhand called Sadani than Magahi language. Khortha cinema refers to films produced in the Khortha language in the Indian state of Jharkhand. History Khortha cinema was predated in the 1990s by a growing interest in Khortha music. Widespread interest emerged around 1997 to 1998, when the song "Phoolal Phoolal Rotiya" by singer Gautam Kumar Mahato became a hit. After the partition of Jharkhand in 2000, competition increased. The first Khortha music studio was established in Katras under the name Deshwali Studio. The second studio was established in Nirsa under the name Lovely Music. The third studio was called The Music Company. Lens Music then followed. Film In the mid-2000s, the CD and DVD business crashed. Looking to transfer the interest in Khortha art to other media, filmmakers were inspired to shoot films in Jharkhand. Khortha is a village in Gorakhpur district in Uttar Pradesh, India It is 16 km from Gorakhpur city. It comes under Sahjanwaa election block. The village has its own Government Primary School.The village is prone to flood every year. The village has a post office catering to nearby villages as well.
