Khairunnisa Ash'ari
Khairunnisa binti Ash'ari (born 1987) is a Bruneian activist and politician, known for her work on environmentalism and women's rights. In Brunei and the surrounding region, Khairunnisa actively supports environmental sustainability and youth development. She presently holds the positions of general manager for RECOVER, co-founder and director of community engagement for Green Brunei, and director of the Green Xchange for the Society for Community Outreach and Training in addition to serving on the Brunei Legislative Council. Early life and education Khairunnisa was born in 1987 in Brunei. She graduated from the Universiti Brunei Darussalam in 2011. She later studied at King's College London through a Chevening Scholarship, graduating with a master's degree in environment, politics, and globalization in 2016. Legislative Council Of Brunei
The Legislative Council of Brunei (Malay: ''Majlis Mesyuarat Negara Brunei''; Jawi: مجليس مشوارت نڬارا بروني; abbrev: Legco) is a national unicameral legislature of Brunei. The council comprises 36 appointed members, that only has consultative tasks. Under Brunei's 1959 constitution, His Majesty Hassanal Bolkiah is the head of state with full executive authority, including emergency powers since 1962. The Council holds its sitting annually in March at Legislative Council Building in Bandar Seri Begawan. History The council was established in 1959 by virtue of Article 23 of Brunei's Constitution of 1959. Its first sitting was held at Lapau on 21 October 1959. Queen's Young Leader Award
Queen's Young Leader Award was an annual award given in recognition of leadership skills by young persons between the ages of 18 and 29. The award was open to selected Commonwealth of Nations to recognize exceptional people or organizations who are making a difference in improving other citizen's lives. The program was established by the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, in partnership with Comic Relief and the Royal Commonwealth Society. The programme closed in 2019.
