Kevin O'Neill (Australian Footballer)
Edward Kevin O'Neill (20 March 1908 – 12 July 1985) was an Australian rules footballer who played in the VFL between 1930 and 1941 for the Richmond Football Club. The son of a former Richmond player from its days in the VFA, O'Neill was a member of the Tigers' legendary "''Three Musketeers''" backline of Bolger, Sheahan and O'Neill. He played in four straight senior Grand Finals from 1931 to 1934, winning the premiership in 1932 and 1934. He also played in Richmond's losing Grand Final side of 1940. O'Neill represented Victoria on ten occasions, as State vice-captain for an Interstate Carnival, and was awarded Life Membership of the Richmond Football Club in 1939. Echuca ( ) is a town on the banks of the Murray River and Campaspe River in Victoria, Australia. The border town of Moama is adjacent on the northern side of the Murray River in New South Wales. Echuca is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Shire of Campaspe. As of the , Echuca had a population of 15,056, and the population of the combined Echuca and Moama townships was 22,568. Echuca lies within traditional Yorta Yorta country. The town's name is a Yorta Yorta word meaning "meeting of the waters". Echuca is close to the junction of the Goulburn, Campaspe, and Murray Rivers. Its position at the closest point of the Murray to Melbourne contributed to its development as a thriving river port city during the 19th century. The Echuca Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Murray Bombers'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the Victorian town of Echuca, Victoria (Australia), Victoria. History The Echuca Football Club was formed in 1874, so it could play against the Rochester Football Club which was also formed in 1874 too. Echuca initially wore the blue and white colours. In 1890, Echuca won the Aitken Tropy, then 1891, Echuca East Football Club won the trophy, then in 1892, Rochester won the initial premiership and Echuca protested, which resulted in the two teams having to play a grand final match. Rochester refused to play, with Echuca travelling over to Rochester to play, but with no competing team, Echuca claimed the premiership match, after the first bounce.
