Naomh Mearnóg CLG
Naomh Mearnóg is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in the parish of Portmarnock, County Dublin, Ireland. The club was founded in 1975 and now fields a total of 35 teams in football, hurling, camogie and ladies' football. These include three adult football teams, two adult hurling teams, two adult camogie teams and an adult ladies' football team. They also cater for many juvenile teams. History Early years In the late 1920s and early 1930s, there were two grades of adult inter-club football: senior and junior. It was the same at inter-county level. However, the interest in inter-county football was nothing like it is nowadays, most of the focus was on the inter-club scene. In the late 1920s, there was a temporary break-up of Innisfails' junior football team in Balgriffin, and as a result it was decided to form a team in Portmarnock. Galway County Football Team
The Galway county football team ( ) represents Galway in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Galway GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Connacht Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Galway's home ground is Pearse Stadium, Salthill. The team's manager is Pádraic Joyce. Fiontán Ó Curraoin
Fiontán Ó Curraoin (born 29 August 1992 in Galway) is an Irish Gaelic footballer and teacher from Galway. Ó Curraoin plays his club football with Míchael Breathnach. He played at senior level for the Galway county team from 2011 onwards. Ó Curraoin was a key part of Galway GAA's Under 21 All-Ireland wins of 2011 and 2013. He won the Sigerson Cup with DCU in 2012. Ó Curraoin injured himself while playing for Galway against Mayo in the FBD Insurance League in January 2020 and required hospital treatment. Ó Curraoin withdrew from the Galway panel ahead of the 2021 season. He is a teacher at Coláiste Bhaile Chláir in Claregalway. A captain of a Gaelic games team, sometimes known as a ''skipper'', is a player who, during the course of a match as well as before and after it, has several additional roles and responsibilities over and above those of his teammates. Tradition means that some teams rotate the captaincy annually, though others may adopt a permanent captain. As well as being an onfield leader, a captain takes the coin toss and raises the trophy when this is the game's prize. Responsibilities The captain leads the team out onto the pitch. Before the start of a match, a coin toss between captains of the opposing teams is used to determine which end of the ground each team will kick to. It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in Ireland. Colin Forde (born ) is an Irish sportsperson who played Gaelic football with Killererin, and was a member of the Galway senior football team from 2011 to 2015. At club level, Forde was a member of the Killererin team that won the 2010 Galway Senior Football Championship. DIT GAA or Dublin Institute of Technology GAA was a Gaelic Athletic Association University Club in Dublin Institute of Technology County Dublin, Ireland. DIT's men's Gaelic football team compete in the Sigerson Cup and the O'Byrne Cup. DIT won its first Sigerson Cup in 2013, defeating UCC in the final by 3-08 to 0-08.
