Stephan Keppler
Stephan Keppler (born February 1, 1983 in Innsbruck) is a German alpine skier. Keppler grew up in Albstadt, a town on the Swabian Alb, in Baden-Württemberg. He learned skiing at his local winter sports club, WSV, of Ebingen. As an adult, he joined the Bundeswehr, the German military, as an army-sponsored athlete (German: "Sportsoldat"). In 1999, he took part in his first FIS races. In the same season, he won the German youth championship in the slalom, in 2003 in the giant slalom and Super G competitions. Since 2003, Keppler has been starting in races of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, with his debut at Garmisch on February 22. At the same location, he earned his first points in that competition in 2006, finishing 21st in the downhill. Johannes Kepler
Johannes Kepler (; ; 27 December 1571 – 15 November 1630) was a German astronomer, mathematician, astrologer, natural philosopher and writer on music. He is a key figure in the 17th-century Scientific Revolution, best known for his laws of planetary motion, and his books ''Astronomia nova'', ''Harmonice Mundi'', and ''Epitome Astronomiae Copernicanae''. These works also provided one of the foundations for Newton's theory of universal gravitation. Kepler was a mathematics teacher at a seminary school in Graz, where he became an associate of Prince Hans Ulrich von Eggenberg. Later he became an assistant to the astronomer Tycho Brahe in Prague, and eventually the imperial mathematician to Emperor Rudolf II and his two successors Matthias and Ferdinand II. Wilhelm Keppler
Wilhelm Karl Keppler (14 December 1882 – 13 June 1960) was a German businessman and one of Adolf Hitler's early financial backers. Introduced to Hitler by Heinrich Himmler, Keppler helped to finance the Nazi Party and later served as one of Hitler's economic advisors. Keppler attended Karlsruhe Technical School from 1901 to 1905. He then served in the army between 1903 and 1904 before attending Königliche Technische Hochschule zu Danzig from 1905 to 1910, where he earned his degree in engineering. He was commissioned by the army as a reserve second lieutenant in 1910. Keppler became an engineer in the chemical industry starting in 1911. He fought in the First World War. Keppler was an engineer and chemical manufacturer at the time that he joined the NSDAP in February 1927 as member #62,424. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School and City College of New York. Throughout his career as a photographer, Keppler did advertisements for clients such as Camel Cigarettes and the United States government. Udo J. Keppler (April 4, 1872 – July 4, 1956), known from 1894 as Joseph Keppler Jr., was an American political cartoonist, publisher, and Native American advocate. The son of cartoonist Joseph Keppler (1838–1894), who founded '' Puck'' magazine, the younger Keppler also contributed cartoons, and became co-owner of the magazine after his father's death, when he changed his name to Joseph Keppler. He was also a collector of Native American artifacts, and was adopted by the Seneca Nation, where he became an honorary chief and given the name Gyantwaka. Keppler was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from the Columbia Institute in 1888, and studied in Germany in 1890 and 1891. He was with ''Puck'' from 1890 to 1914. Rudolph Keppler (February 27, 1845 – June 4, 1923) was a German-American banker who served as president of the New York Stock Exchange. Early life Keppler was born in Konstanz, Baden-Württemberg, Germany on February 27, 1845. He was a son of Carl Friedrich Keppler and the former Anna Maria Zogelmann. He came to New York City in the 1850s as a boy, and was educated in New York. Career A banker for many years, he was head of the firm of Keppler & Co. until his retirement in 1914, at which time his son took over the business. The firm was later bought and renamed Hellwig & Reutter. In 1875, he joined the New York Stock Exchange and remained a member for forty-four years. He served as president of the Exchange for five years from 1898 through 1902.
