The Kenya School of Law (KSL) is the only bar school in Kenya. After completing an undergraduate degree in law from a recognized university, students attend the Kenya School of Law to prepare for admission to the Kenyan Bar. History The Kenya School of Law was established as a law vocational training school for the training of barristers in 1963. It was created by Gerald Davis, a barrister under the auspices of Lord Justice Denning. Many of the lecturers appointed by Gerald Davis went on to become judges in the UK. The standard of teaching was very high. However, the establishment of Faculties of Law in East African universities led to a need to change the training offered at the Kenya School of Law. Bar School
The Bar Professional Training Course or BPTC is a postgraduate course which allows law graduates to be named and practise as barristers in England and Wales. The eight institutes that run the BPTC along with the four prestigious Inns of Court are often collectively referred to as ''Bar School''. Until September 2010, it was known as the Bar Vocational Course, or BVC. The BPTC is currently one of the most expensive legal courses in Europe. The academic stage is the first of the three stages of legal education; the second is the vocational stage (the BPTC) and the third is the practical stage (pupillage). Robert Gichimu Githinji is a Kenyan lawyer and politician who has served in the National Assembly of Kenya since 2017, representing the Gichugu Constituency. Career Githinji attended the University of Nairobi from 1995 until 1999, graduating with a Bachelor of Law degree. In 2000, he received a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. In 2001, Githinji was admitted to the Kenyan Bar, and he began his law practice as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
