Kentucky Route 1638 is a state highway in Kentucky. The entire route is in Meade County. Route description KY 1638 starts in Brandenburg Station at a junction with KY 448. The only other major junctions are with KY 933 and KY 1238, the latter being in Lickskillet. The eastern terminus is in Fort Knox at a junction with US 31W and KY 868. The latter three state routes terminate at KY 1638. Fort Knox
Fort Knox is a United States Army installation in Kentucky, south of Louisville and north of Elizabethtown. It is adjacent to the United States Bullion Depository, which is used to house a large portion of the United States' official gold reserves, and with which it is often conflated. The base covers parts of Bullitt, Hardin and Meade counties. It currently holds the Army Human Resources Center of Excellence, including the Army Human Resources Command. It is named in honor of Henry Knox, Chief of Artillery in the American Revolutionary War and the first United States Secretary of War. Meade County, Kentucky
Meade County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 30,003. Its county seat is Brandenburg. The county was founded December 17, 1823, and named for Captain James M. Meade, who was killed in action at the Battle of River Raisin during the War of 1812. Meade County is part of the Elizabethtown-Fort Knox, KY Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Louisville/Jefferson County-Elizabethtown-Madison, KY- IN Combined Statistical Area. Kentucky Route 448 (KY 448) is a state highway located in Brandenburg, Kentucky. It serves the immediate downtown area. Route description KY 448 begins at KY 313 on the southeast side of Brandenburg. From there, KY 448 turns right and travels to the north-northwest. It passes Brandenburg Primary School and David T. Wilson Elementary School. The highway then passes Meade Olin Park and intersects the northern terminus of KY 710 (Old State Road). This intersection is just to the north-northeast of Meade County High School. It curves to the northwest and passes Ramsey Field and intersects the southern terminus of KY 2204 (Main Street). Kentucky Transportation Cabinet
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is Kentucky's state-funded agency charged with building and maintaining federal highways and Kentucky state highways, as well as regulating other transportation related issues. The Transportation Cabinet is led by the Kentucky Secretary of Transportation, who is appointed by the governor of Kentucky. The current Secretary is Jim Gray, who was appointed by Democratic Governor Andy Beshear. As of October 2012, KYTC maintains of roadways in the state. Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area
Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area (formerly Otter Creek Park) is a 2,600 acre (11 km²) riverfront park in Meade County, Kentucky, Meade County, Kentucky. The park is located near Muldraugh, Kentucky, Muldraugh and Fort Knox, along State Highway 1638, near U.S. 31W. Although it is located outside Louisville, Kentucky, Louisville, the park was long operated by the city of Louisville and, after the 2003 merger of the city and Jefferson County, Kentucky, Jefferson County, Louisville Metro Government.
