Kenneth North
Kenneth Walter North (May 29, 1930 – September 21, 2010) was a brigadier general in the United States Air Force as well as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. After his release, he commanded various units and was eventually promoted to general in 1982. Biography Early life North was born on May 29, 1930, in Rockville, Connecticut. After graduating from high school in 1949, he attended the University of Connecticut. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1953. Military career Upon graduation from the University of Connecticut, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program and was awarded his pilot wings in September 1954. Following pilot training North served with the Air Defense Command at Truax Field, Wisconsin, until September 1956. Rockville is a census-designated place and a village of the town of Vernon in Tolland County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 7,474 at the 2010 census. Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base is a base of the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) in northeast Thailand, approximately 200 km (125 mi) northeast of Bangkok and about 4 km (2.5 mi) south of the centre of the city of Nakhon Ratchasima in the Nakhon Ratchasima Province (also known as "Khorat" or "Korat"), the largest province in Thailand. F-105 Thunderchief
The Republic F-105 Thunderchief is an American supersonic fighter-bomber that served with the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1984. Capable of Mach 2, it conducted the majority of strike bombing missions during the early years of the Vietnam War; it was the only American aircraft to have been removed from combat due to high loss rates.
