Ken Nelson (American Record Producer)
Kenneth F. Nelson (January 19, 1911 – January 6, 2008) was an American record producer and A & R man for Capitol Records. Early life Born in Caledonia, Minnesota, Nelson made his radio debut as a singer, at the age of 14, in 1925. and performed in various bands during his teen years, working with musician Lee Gillette several times. Career Nelson, who was in charge of the A&R division of Capitol Records and head of country music for many years, is credited for being one of the behind-the-scenes figures responsible for country music's growth during the post-World War II era. During his many years with Capitol's division in Hollywood, California, he produced many of the genre's most notable and successful hits, by artists including Merle Travis, Gene Vincent, Ferlin Husky, Jean Shepard, Hank Thompson and the many Number 1 country hits known as the Bakersfield Sound by Merle Haggard and The Strangers, Buck Owens, Red Simpson along with many others. Ken Nelson (British Record Producer)
Ken Nelson (born 6 February 1959 in Liverpool) is an English record producer. After several years working on demos and independent artists, he achieved success with Gomez, and worldwide success with the first Coldplay recording. He has also worked with Badly Drawn Boy, Howling Bells, The Charlatans, Kings of Convenience, The Orange Lights, Ray LaMontagne, Snow Patrol, Paolo Nutini, and Deadbeat Darling. He has won three US Grammy awards, two Mercury Music Prizes, and was "Music Week" magazine's 'Producer of the Year' in 2003. The Canadian singer/songwriter Alana Levandoski began recording her second album with producer Ken Nelson in Kelwood, Manitoba, Canada- at a local church in February 2008. Final sessions for her album took place at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool, England in April and May 2008. Kenneth Nelson (March 24, 1930 – October 7, 1993) was an American actor. Born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Nelson appeared in several television series in the late 1940s, ''Captain Video and His Video Rangers'' and ''The Aldrich Family'' among them. He was cast in his first Broadway show, ''Seventeen'', a musical adaptation of the Booth Tarkington novel that opened at the Broadhurst Theatre on June 21, 1951 and ran 182 performances. In 1960, Nelson was cast in an off-Broadway show entitled ''The Fantasticks'', which eventually became the world's longest-running musical with 17,162 performances. In 1962, he was hired to understudy Anthony Newley in ''Stop the World - I Want to Get Off'' when it transferred from the West End, eventually assuming the lead role when the star departed the show. Kenneth John Nelson BA MBA MSc FCMI CMgr (born 23 February 1962) is the chief executive of the social enterprise Local Enterprise Development Company Ltd (LEDCOM), Larne, Northern Ireland. He began his career as a textile technologist. In 2010, he was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion. He has served on the board of governors of Ballymena Academy and on the board of governors of the Northern Regional College. On 15 September 2011 he was one of the experts who provided the Committee for Enterprise, Trade and Investment of the Northern Ireland Assembly with oral briefing on Enterprise NI programmes, Local Enterprise Agencies (LEAs) and procurement.
