Ken Bell (American Football)
Kenneth Shawn Bell (born November 16, 1964) is a former American football return specialist for the Denver Broncos in the late 1980s. Early years Bell attended the local high school in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he was part of a dominating football program and teammates with future Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young. He was inducted into the high school's hall of fame in 2015. College Bell attended Boston College, appearing in all but one of the team's 48 games in four years from 1982 to 1985. His first three seasons, he was teammates with Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie. He had just 39 yards rushing and 112 returning kickoffs his freshman year, but his sophomore season saw increasing touches as a receiving running back (312 yards from scrimmage) and a returner (333). The season was highlighted by a 51-yard kickoff return to set up a late game-winning field goal in an 18-15 win over Temple. Return Specialist
A return specialist or kick returner is a player on the special teams unit of a gridiron football team who specializes in returning punts and kickoffs. There are few players who are exclusively return specialists; most also play another position such as wide receiver, defensive back, or running back. The special teams counterpart of a return specialist is a kicking specialist. According to All-American Venric Mark, "Returning punts is harder. You have to judge the ball more, you have to know when to fair catch and when not to. You can't be a superhero and try to catch everything. With kickoff returns, you catch the ball and — boom — you're going." The Denver Broncos season was the franchise's 27th year in professional football and its 17th with the National Football League (NFL). John Albert Elway Jr. (born June 28, 1960) is an American professional football executive and former quarterback who is the president of football operations for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). Elway played college football for the Stanford Cardinal and his entire 16-year professional career with the Denver Broncos. He is widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks of all time. The Drive was an offensive series in the fourth quarter of the 1986 AFC Championship Game played on January 11, 1987, at Cleveland Municipal Stadium between the Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns. Broncos quarterback John Elway, in a span of 5 minutes and 2 seconds, led his team 98 yards in 15 plays to tie the game with 37 seconds left in regulation. Denver won the game in overtime by making a 33-yard field goal, pulling off a 23–20 win over the Cleveland Browns. The 98-yard drive ranks as pro football's prototypical clutch performance. Elway and his team spanned almost all of the 100-yard football field.
