Kelly Knox
Kelly Knox (born 1984) is a British fashion model. She has been voted one of the most influential disabled people in the UK, and is one of the few fashion models in the world with a physical disability. Knox became one of the first models with a disability to star at London Fashion Week in 2017. Early life Kelly Knox was born in Enfield, North London and raised in both Enfield and Poplar, East London. She was born without a left forearm but, from the age of seven, refused to wear a prosthetic arm and since then has never used a prosthesis. Career In 2008, she was the winner of the BBC Three Reality TV show, ''Britain's Missing Top Model''. One of eight disabled women contestants, among her competitors were two deaf women, a wheelchair user and a woman with one leg. ''Britain's Missing Top Model'' is a British Reality TV modelling show for disabled women, aired on BBC Three. The premiere episode aired on 1 July 2008. The show courted controversy, with many arguing that the show made disability a spectator event. The show followed eight young women with disabilities, who competed for a modelling contract (which included a photo shoot with Rankin and a cover photo in '' Marie Claire''). One of the contestants, Sophie Morgan, had already appeared on another reality TV show, ''Beyond Boundaries'', in 2005. The series aired over a period of five weeks. New York Fashion Week (NYFW), held in February and September of each year, is a semi-annual series of events in Manhattan typically spanning 7–9 days when international fashion collections are shown to buyers, the press, and the general public. Jonathan Phang is a British food writer and chef, best known for his television appearances. Early life Phang was born in London. His father was from China and his mother from Guyana. He began his career as a fashion agent, working with models such as Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks and Liv Tyler. Marchioness tragedy In 1989, Phang arranged a friend's birthday party on board a pleasure boat on the River Thames, which ended in disaster and the death of many of his friends after the boat was struck by a larger vessel and sank.
