Keith Martin (broadcaster)
Keith Martin (born 2 April 1934) is a British disc jockey and broadcaster born in Sandwich, Kent, known for his involvement in UK pirate radio from its earliest days and extensive work as a TV continuity announcer. Career Martin was involved with offshore radio from the very earliest days of pirate radio in the United Kingdom. He worked as an announcer on the first pirate station to broadcast to the United Kingdom, the Radio Veronica English-language broadcast CNBC, which ran from 1960 to 1961. He recorded programmes for the subsequent ventures GBOK and GBLN (known as the ''Voice of Slough'') in 1962, but these were never aired. Later he joined Radio Atlanta as a disc jockey, staying on until in 1964 when it merged with the offshore radio station Radio Caroline, at which point Martin presented broadcasts alongside then future BBC DJ Tony Blackburn from the MV Mi Amigo. A bracket is either of two tall fore- or back-facing punctuation marks commonly used to isolate a segment of text or data from its surroundings. ABC Weekend TV
ABC Weekend TV was the popular name of the British broadcaster ABC Television Limited, which provided the weekend service in the Midlands and Northern England regions of the Independent Television (ITV) network from 1956 to 1968. It was one of the " Big Four" companies that between them produced the majority of ITV networked programmes during this period. Originally created as Associated British Cinemas (Television) Ltd, ABC was one of a number of commercial television companies established during the 1950s by cinema chain companies, in an attempt to safeguard their business by becoming involved with television, which was taking away their cinema audiences. Pearl & Dean is now owned by Willowbrook Investments Ltd, and controls advertising at many UK cinema sites including multiplex operators Empire, Showcase and AMC; the company also represents approximately half of the UK's independent cinemas. London Weekend Television (LWT) (now part of the non-franchised ITV London region) was the ITV network franchise holder for Greater London and the Home Counties at weekends, broadcasting from Fridays at 5.15 pm (7:00 pm from 1968 until 1982) to Monday mornings at 6:00. From 1968 until 1992, when LWT's weekday counterpart was Thames Television, there was an on-screen handover to LWT on Friday nights (there was no handover back to Thames on Mondays, as from 1968 to 1982 there was no programming in the very early morning, and from 1983, when a national breakfast franchise was created, LWT would hand over to TV-am at 6:00am, which would then hand over to Thames at 9:25am). Southern Television
Southern Television was the ITV broadcasting licence holder for the South and South-East of England from 30 August 1958 to 31 December 1981. The company was launched as 'Southern Television Limited' and the title 'Southern Television' was consistently used on-air throughout its life. However, in 1966, during the application process for contracts running from 1968, the company renamed itself 'Southern Independent Television Limited', a title which was used until 1980 when the company reverted to its original corporate name.
