Keith Butler (American Football)
John Keith Butler (born May 16, 1956) is a former American football coach and linebacker. He played for the National Football League (NFL)'s Seattle Seahawks for ten years and retired after the 1987 season. Butler spent 23 years coaching in the NFL. Before retiring from coaching in January 2022, Butler served as the Defensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers for seven seasons (2015-2021). College career Butler played college football at Memphis State University (University of Memphis since 1994), starting for three years at inside linebacker under head coach Richard Williamson. He had 384 career tackles and seven interceptions, leading the Tigers in tackles during his junior and senior seasons. Butler was named an AP All-American in his senior year, and played in the Senior Bowl and the Blue-Gray All-Star Game. Butch Davis
Paul Hilton "Butch" Davis Jr. (born November 17, 1951) is an American football coach. He was most recently the head football coach at Florida International University. After graduating from the University of Arkansas, he became an assistant college football coach at Oklahoma State University and the University of Miami before becoming the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). 1978 Seattle Seahawks Season
The 1978 Seattle Seahawks season was the team's third season in the National Football League (NFL). The Seahawks won nine games, giving the franchise its first winning season. Coach Jack Patera won the National Football League Coach of the Year Award at seasons end. Led by the third ranked offense, the team had some achievements. The Blue–Gray Football Classic was an annual American college football all-star game held in Alabama, usually in late December and often on Christmas Day. The brainchild of Alabama college football legend Champ Pickens, the contest began in 1939 and was held annually through 2001, with the exception of 1943 due to World War II. All of the games, except for the final contest, were played at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama, under the auspices of the Montgomery Lions Club. The primary purposes of tackling are to dispossess an opponent of the ball, to stop the player from gaining ground towards goal or to stop them from carrying out what they intend.
