Tim Barrett (actor)
Tim Barrett (31 May 1929 – 20 August 1990) was an English actor best remembered for playing Malcolm Harris, Terry Medford's boss, in several series of the classic British sitcom ''Terry and June''. Career Barrett took the role of Malcolm Harris in ''Terry and June'' after the original actor Terence Alexander became unavailable to return for production to begin on the Christmas special, for he had just begun playing Charlie Hungerford in '' Bergerac''. He played Mr Campbell-Lewiston in ''The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin'', episode 4 "The Bizarre Dinner Party". Barrett played Harris from the 1980 Christmas special to the seventh series of the show, transmitted in late 1983; he was replaced in the eighth series by John Quayle. Joyce Grant (23 January 1924 – 11 July 2006) was a UK-based South African actress known for her comedic roles. Grant was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa and her father encouraged her to move to London to study acting. When she returned to South Africa, her roles included: "Lola" in William Inge's '' Come Back Little Sheba'' and as "Laura Wingfield" in Tennessee Williams' ''The Glass Menagerie''. Jack Haig (born John Cecil Coppin; 5 January 1913 – 4 July 1989) was an English actor who specialised in supporting roles, mainly in television comedy. He was best known for playing Monsieur Roger Leclerc in the British sitcom '''Allo 'Allo!'' between 1982 and 1989. Biography Haig was the son of music hall actors Bertha Baker and Charles Coppin, whose act went under the name "Haig and Esco." He was seen in a long list of British television favourites including: ''Hugh and I'', ''Are You Being Served?'', ''Terry and June'' and ''Dad's Army'' (although he turned down the role of Corporal Jones which then went to Clive Dunn) . Tony Maiden (died 17 February 2004 in Torrevieja, Alicante, Spain) was an English actor, who is best known for playing “Albert Clifton” in all episodes in the first series of the British television series ''The Adventures of Black Beauty'', premiered on 17 February 1973. He is also known for playing “Willy” in ''Outer Touch'' (1979). He played also the Assistant Boots “E.J. Guy” in ''S.O.S. Titanic'' (1979). Common reasons for loss A significant proportion of early television programming was never recorded in the first place. Early broadcasting in all genres was live and sometimes performed repeatedly. Due to there being no means to record the broadcast or, later, because the content itself was thought to have little monetary or historical value it was not deemed necessary to save it.
