Premier University, Chittagong
Premier University ( bn, প্রিমিয়ার বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়), also known as PU, is a private university in Chittagong, Bangladesh. It was established in 2002. History The ex-mayor of Chittagong City Corporation, ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, conceived the idea of establishing a center of excellence for higher education and learning in Chittagong and initiated a needs assessment in 1998. A project proposal for Premier University was submitted to the Ministry of Education of Bangladesh in May 2001. The proposal was approved by the Government of Bangladesh under the Private University Act (1992), and the University Grants Commission (Bangladesh) (UGC) approved the curricula of Premier University. Kazi Zafarullah
Kazi Zafarullah (born April 1947) is a Bangladeshi industrialist and politician, a member of the ruling party, the Bangladesh Awami League's 12-member Presidium, its central working committee, and a former MP from Faridpur-5. Early life Zafarullah was born in April 1947, the eldest son of Kazi Mahbubullah and Begum Zebunnessa. He was educated at St Gregory's High School and Dhaka College, and has bachelor's and master's degrees in history from the University of Dhaka. Career Zafarullah was critically injured in the 2004 Dhaka grenade attack which targeted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In 2005, Zafarullah attended a meeting between Sheikh Hasina and the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Anwar Choudhury.
