Kazakhstan Premier League
The Kazakhstan Professional Football League ( kk, Қазақстан Премьер Лигасы, ''Qazaqstan Premer Ligasy''), commonly referred to as Kazakh Premier League or simply Premier League, is the top division of football in Kazakhstan. The League is controlled by the Football Federation of Kazakhstan and was set up in 1992. The League is fed into by the First Division and starts in spring and finishes in late autumn because of the low temperatures in the winter, with each championship corresponding to a calendar year. Heinrich Schmidtgal ( Kazakh: Генрих Шмидтгаль; born 20 November 1985) is a Kazakhstani former professional footballer who played as a left-back. Early life Born in Esik, Kazakh SSR, Schmidtgal emigrated with his parents at the age of two from the former Soviet Union and settled in Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock in East Westphalia in North Rhine-Westphalia. Club career Early career Schmidtgal started to play football at FC Hövelriege and move from there to the youth of SC Verl. On 27 August 2003, the second matchday of the Oberliga Westfalen, he made his debut for the first team in the 3–2 defeat against FC Gütersloh. Football Club Aktobe ( kk, Aqtóbe Fýtbol Klýby), commonly referred to as FC Aktobe or simply Aktobe, is a professional football club based in Aktobe. They last played in the Kazakhstan Premier League, the highest level of Kazakh football. Oleg Litvinenko (russian: Олег Литвиненко; 23 November 1973 – 19 November 2007) was a Kazakh International footballer from Taraz, who played as a forward. Career Club In 1998, Litvinenko was banned from football for one-year, after playing for FC Irtysh Pavlodar in the 1998–99 Asian Club Championship whilst not being eligible. During Litvinenko's time in the Kazakhstan Premier League, he has scored 147 goals, putting him as the all-time top scorer in the tournament, until Nurbol Zhumaskaliyev beat his record. International Litvinenko represented Kazakhstan 28 times between 1996 and 2006, whilst also representing the Kazakhstan U-23 10 times, scoring 9 times, during the 1996 Olympic Games Qualifiers. Samat Kabiruly Smakov ( kk, Самат Қабірұлы Смақов, Samat Qabiruly Smaqov; born 8 December 1978) is a Kazakhstani football manager and a former player who played as a defender. He is the manager of FC Yelimay Semey. Yuri Alekseyevich Novikov (russian: Юрий Новиков; born 19 May 1972) is a former Kazakh football goalkeeper. He retired from football at the end of 2007. He is a goalkeeper coach at FC Tobol currently in the Kazakhstan Super League. He has also played for the Kazakhstan national football team, making his debut in 2001.
