''Kay O'Brien'' is an American medical drama television series set at fictional Manhattan General Hospital, which aired for one season on CBS from September 25 to November 13, 1986, during the 1986-87 television season. Overview The series stars Patricia Kalember as Dr. Kay "Kayo" O'Brien. CBS had high hopes for this multi-racial medical drama, but it received low ratings and was cancelled after airing just 8 episodes. Lifetime bought the rights to the entire series, and has occasionally aired all 12 episodes. A medical drama is a television show or film in which events center upon a hospital, an ambulance staff, or any medical environment. Most recent medical dramatic programming go beyond the events pertaining to the characters' jobs and portray some aspects of their personal lives. A typical medical drama might have a storyline in which two doctors fall in love. Tony Soper (American Actor)
Tony Soper (born 10 January 1929) is a British naturalist, author and broadcaster. Life and career Soper was educated at Hyde Park Elementary School and at Devonport High School for Boys, both in Plymouth. He joined the BBC at 17 as a "youth-in-training", subsequently graduating by way of studio manager to features producer in radio, then moved into television. Among the radio programmes he produced were ''Birds In Britain''. Soper co-founded the BBC's Natural History Unit as its first film producer, with Patrick Beech the then South West Controller. Cutting his teeth on the ''LOOK'' series he organised far-flung wildlife filming projects. He presented live television programmes, including ''Birdwatch'', ''Birdspot'', ''Discovering Birds'', ''Discovering Animals'', ''Beside the Sea'', ''Wildtrack'' and ''Nature''. Bryce Zabel
Bryce H. Zabel (born May 17, 1954) is an American television producer, director, writer, and occasional actor. With hundreds of hours of produced film and television credits, Zabel has scripted a trio of mini-series which aired in the U.S. market and were distributed worldwide. They include the medical thriller ''Pandemic'' (2007, Hallmark), the pirate adventure ''Blackbeard'' (2006, Hallmark), and the disaster epic ''The Poseidon Adventure'' (2005, NBC).
