Katrin Holtwick (born 10 April 1984) is a German retired beach volleyball player. From 2006 to 2016, she played with Ilka Semmler. They competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She won 2 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 6 bronze medals in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. A beach is a landform alongside a body of water which consists of loose particles. The particles composing a beach are typically made from rock, such as sand, gravel, shingle, pebbles, etc., or biological sources, such as mollusc shells or coralline algae. Sediments settle in different densities and structures, depending on the local wave action and weather, creating different textures, colors and gradients or layers of material. Though some beaches form on inland freshwater locations such as lakes and rivers, most beaches are in coastal areas where wave or current action deposits and reworks sediments. Erosion and changing of beach geologies happens through natural processes, like wave action and extreme weather events. FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour
The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour (known between 2003 and 2012 as the FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour for sponsorship reasons) was the worldwide professional beach volleyball tour for both men and women organized by the ' ( FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The World Tour was introduced 1989 for men and in 1992 for women being held yearly since then until 2021. Several tournaments were staged throughout the year.
