Karmala Assembly constituency (244) is one of the 288 Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha, Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly) constituencies of Maharashtra state in western India. Overview Karmala (constituency number 244) is one of the eleven Vidhan Sabha constituencies located in the Solapur district. It covers the entire Karmala tehsil and part of the Madha tehsil of this district. The number of electors in 2009 was 250,527 (male 132,006, female 118,521). Karmala is part of the Madha (Lok Sabha constituency), Madha Lok Sabha constituency along with five other Vidhan Sabha segments, namely Madha Assembly constituency, Madha, Sangola (Vidhan Sabha constituency), Sangola and Malshiras Assembly constituency, Malshiras in the Solapur district and Phaltan (Vidhan Sabha Constituency), Phaltan and Man Assembly constituency, Man in the Satara district. Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha
The Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha or the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the legislature of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is situated in the Nariman Point area of South Mumbai in the capital Mumbai. Presently, 288 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from the single-seat constituencies. The members of the upper house, the Maharashtra Vidhan Parishad (the legislative council) are indirectly elected through an electoral college. Sessions The budget session and the monsoon session are convened in Mumbai whereas the winter session is convened in the auxiliary capital Nagpur. Sushilkumar Sambhaji Shinde (born 4 September 1941) is an Indian politician from the state of Maharashtra. He was the Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Power in the Manmohan Singh government, and the Leader of the House in Lok Sabha until 26 May 2014. He previously served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 18 January 2003 to October 2004. Karmala is a city and a municipal council in Solapur district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. History The municipality was established at Karmala in 1867 and is now governed under the Maharashtra Municipalities Act, 1965. It covers an area of . 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Election
The 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election was held on 21 October 2019 to elect all 288 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. After a 61.4% turnout in the election, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena (SHS) won a majority. Following differences over the government formation, the alliance was dissolved, precipitating a political crisis. Since a council of ministers had not been formed after no party could manage to form the government, President's rule was imposed in the state. The Nationalist Congress Party ( NCP) is one of the nine national parties in India. The party generally supports Indian nationalism and Gandhian secularism. It is the largest opposition party in Maharashtra and is also a significant party in other states. Party formation and performance The NCP was formed on 10 June 1999, by Sharad Pawar, P. A.
