Karlin (Pinsk)
Karlin or Karalin ( be, Каралін; russian: Карлин; yi, קארלין) is a village outside Pinsk, Belarus. It was founded as an independent town in 1690 and was named after the village's founder, Jan Karol Dolski. By 1695, Dolski had built a church (now a concert hall) and a fortified manor on the spot. He also allowed Jews to settle in the area, where it became the seat of a Hasidic dynasty. Overview The Wiśniowiecki family took control of the village and extended the castle. In 1706, however, the village was captured by the Swedish forces and burnt. Following the destruction of Pinsk, many locals moved to the partially restored village, which with time became a notable suburb. In 1786, a new church of the Bernardines was built there (currently an Orthodox church devoted to St. Barbara). Karlín
Karlín (german: Karolinenthal) is a cadastral area of Prague, part of Prague 8 municipal district, formerly an independent town (which became part of Prague in 1922). It is bordered by the river Vltava and Holešovice to the north, Vítkov hill and Žižkov to the south, New Town to the west and Libeň to the east. History The building of the Karlín district began in 1817, surrounding the Rosarium of the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star. The new settlement was named after the fourth wife of Emperor Francis I of Austria, Caroline Augusta of Bavaria. After the demolition of the city walls, the properties in Karlín were counted among the cheapest properties of Prague. Dolní Poustevna (german: Niedereinsiedel) in Děčín District in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,700 inhabitants. Karlin, Michigan
Karlin ( ) is an unincorporated community in the U.S. state of Michigan. Part of Grant Township, Karlin is within Grand Traverse County, and is considered part of Northern Michigan. As an unincorporated community, Karlin has no legally defined boundaries or population statistics of its own. History An extension of the Manistee and North-Eastern Railroad northeast of Nessen City was completed in 1890. A station was opened south of Interlochen known as Horicon, with a post office opening in 1897. Edward Wilson was the first postmaster at Horicon. The name of the community was changed in 1903 to Karlin, after Karlín, Austria-Hungary, from whence a number of local settlers originated. Karlin is an unincorporated community in central Polk County, in the Ozarks of southwest Missouri, United States. Karlin is located approximately 3.5 miles south of Bolivar and 1.5 miles west of Missouri Route 13. Karlin (Hasidic Dynasty)
Karlin-Stolin is a Hasidic dynasty, originating with Rebbe Aaron ben Jacob of Karlin in present-day Belarus. One of the first centres of Hasidim to be set up in Lithuania, many Lithuanian Hasidic groups are its offshoots. Today, the Karlin-Stolin dynasty is thriving once again, after being decimated by the Holocaust. Karlin-Stolin Hasidim can be found all over the world: Israel, the United States, Russia, England, Mexico, and Ukraine. The Karliner Hasidim are especially known for their custom to cry out in a strong and loud voice to God when praying. They are also known for their hospitality. Karlin-Stolin Hasidim established themselves in Eretz Yisrael in the mid-19th century, settling in Tiberias, Hebron, and Safed.
