Karin Svensson Smith
Karin Svensson Smith (born 11 August 1956 in Kävlinge, Skåne County) is a Swedish politician of the Green Party, and formerly of the Left Party. She was a member of the Riksdag from 1998 to 2018. From 1998 to 2005, she represented the Left Party, after which she left the party but not her seat in the Riksdag, and joined the Green Party. From 2005 to 2006 she was therefore formally an unaffiliated member of the Riksdag. In the 2006 election she was elected to the Riksdag for her new party for the election circuit Malmö. In the election in 2010 she was a candidate for the same circuit. In 2006 she wrote OU 2006:72 Öppna möjligheter med alkolås. Kävlinge
Kävlinge () is a locality and the seat of Kävlinge Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 32,341 inhabitants in 2021. In 1996, a train containing large amounts of ammonia derailed and around 9,000 people had to be evacuated from the area. This was the biggest evacuation operation in Swedish history. Near Kävlinge is the site of the Hög passage grave, a Bronze Age barrow covering a neolithic burial chamber. Hög means mound from the Old Norse word ''haugr'' for hill. The finds from the excavations are in the Lund University Historic Museum. Battle of Lund Kävlinge is located north of Lund and has a river passing through called Kävlingeån (translated Kävlinge River). The Green Party ( sv, Miljöpartiet de gröna, lit=Environmental Party the Greens, commonly referred to in Swedish as Miljöpartiet or MP) is a political party in Sweden based on green politics. . Sparked by the anti-nuclear power movement following the 1980 nuclear power referendum, the party was founded in 1981 out of a discontent with the existing parties' environmental policies. In 1988 general election they won seats in the Swedish Riksdag for the first time, capturing 5.5 percent of the vote, and becoming the first new party to enter parliament in seventy years. Three years later, they dropped back below the 4 percent threshold. In 1994, they returned to parliament again and since have retained representation there.
