Karen Kay (born Adrianne Judith Pringle;''Births, Marriages & Deaths Index of England & Wales, 1916–2005.''; at ancestry.com 18 July 1947) is a British former jazz singer, cabaret singer, comedian and impressionist. She is the mother of English jazz-funk singer-songwriter Jay Kay. Life and career Kay was born Adrianne Judith Pringle in Blackburn, England, the daughter of Ethel (Hesmondhalgh) and James S. Pringle. Her mother died when she was young, and after living briefly with her cousin's family, she was adopted by the Cheetham family of Preston, Lancashire. Karen's adoptive father Victor (Vic) Cheetham was a fighter pilot in World War II; he served in Burma with No. 113 Squadron RAF flying Hurri-bombers, supporting infantry action around Dimapur and Palel in 1944. Blackburn () is an industrial town and the administrative centre of the Blackburn with Darwen borough in Lancashire, England. The town is north of the West Pennine Moors on the southern edge of the Ribble Valley, east of Preston and north-northwest of Manchester. David Copperfield (born Stanley Barlow, 1947, Doncaster, West Riding of Yorkshire) is a British comedian who is best known for his role in the 1980s BBC sketch show '' Three of a Kind'', in which he starred alongside Tracey Ullman and Lenny Henry. Career Copperfield began his professional career performing in various cabaret venues. His first TV appearances were on the ''Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club.'' His big break in TV earned him appearances on ''Wogan'' and ''Cliff and Friends''. ''Three of a Kind'' ran from 1981 to 1983. Robert Alan Monkhouse (1 June 1928 – 29 December 2003) was an English comedian, writer and actor. He was the host of television game shows including '' The Golden Shot'', ''Celebrity Squares'', ''Family Fortunes'' and '' ''Wipeout''''. Early life and career Monkhouse was born on 1 June 1928 at 168 Bromley Road, Beckenham, Kent, the son of chartered accountant Wilfred Adrian Monkhouse (1894–1957) and Dorothy Muriel Monkhouse (''née'' Hansard, 1895–1971). Monkhouse had an elder brother, John, who was born in 1922. Monkhouse's grandfather John Monkhouse (1862–1938) was a prosperous Methodist businessman who co-founded Monk and Glass, which made custard powder and jelly. Walter William Bygraves (16 October 1922 – 31 August 2012), best known by the stage name Max Bygraves (adopted in honour of Max Miller), was an English comedian, singer, actor and variety performer. He appeared on his own television shows, sometimes performing comedy sketches between songs. He made twenty ''Royal Variety Performance'' appearances and presented numerous programmes, including ''Family Fortunes'' between 1983 and 1985. He was a long-time TV chat-show host, beginning with ''The Des O'Connor Show'' in 1963, which ran for ten years. ''Three of a Kind'' is a British comedy sketch show starring comedians Tracey Ullman, Lenny Henry and David Copperfield. Three series were made by the BBC between 1981 and 1983. The show bolstered the careers of Ullman and Henry, as well as being an outlet for young writers including Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, Ian Hislop and Nick Revell. Sir Lenworth George Henry (born 29 August 1958) is a British actor, comedian, singer, television presenter and writer. Henry gained success as a stand-up comedian and impressionist in the late 1970s and early 1980s, culminating in ''The Lenny Henry Show'' in 1984. He was the most prominent black British comedian of the time and much of his material served to celebrate and parody his African-Caribbean roots. In 1985, he cofounded the charity Comic Relief with the comedy screenwriter Richard Curtis. Jay Kay (born Jason Luís Cheetham; 30 December 1969) is an English singer and songwriter. He is best known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of the acid jazz and funk band Jamiroquai, which was formed in 1992. Early life Jay Kay was born Jason Luís Cheetham in Stretford on 30 December 1969, the son of English cabaret singer Karen Kay and Portuguese guitarist Luís Saraiva. He did not meet his biological father until 2001. Kay's identical twin, David, died a few weeks after the two were born. Little Harwood
Little Harwood is a suburb of Blackburn in Lancashire, England, situated at the northern edge of the town. Use of land Located within the ward are areas of mixed housing, industrial units and open land, including Blackburn Cemetery. Culture Little Harwood is a multi-cultural place and there are many mosques and churches in the suburb to cater for the various religious denominations of Blackburn and its surrounding areas.
