Karel Sladkovský
Karel Sladkovský (22 June 1823 – 4 March 1880) was a Czech lawyer, politician and journalist. Early life and education Born as a son of a tailor in Malá Strana in Prague, Sladkovský studied gymnasium of Malá Strana and later finished studies of law at the University of Vienna. He was presented at Prague Slavic Congress and later took part in the June revolution of 1848 as a Prague student leader during the fights on the barricades. He was arrested for this, also accused of the participation of May Conspiracy and sentenced to death in 1850, then pardoned and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Finally he was released in 1857 due to a general amnesty. In 1861, he received an estate of rehabilitation. From 1860 he worked as an editor at the newspapers ''Čas'', ''Hlas'' and ''Národní listy''. Jan Vilímek
Jan Vilímek (german: Johann Vilimek; 1 January 1860 – 15 April 1938) was a Czech illustrator and Painting, painter. Vilímek was born on 1 January 1860 in Žamberk, Bohemia. He created many portraits of famous personalities from Bohemia and other Slavic peoples, Slavonic nations. During the 1880s, these portraits were regularly published in magazines such as ''Humoristické Listy'', ''Zlatá Praha'' and ''Světozor''. In the 1890s, some of these illustrations were assembled into a book, ''České album''. He died on 15 April 1938 in Vienna. The Old Czech Party ( cz, Staročeši, officially National Party, ''Národní strana'') was formed in the Kingdom of Bohemia and Bohemian Crown Lands of Austrian Empire in Revolution Year of 1848. The Czech Republic is a unitary parliamentary republic, in which the President is the head of state and the Prime Minister is the head of government. Žižkov
Žižkov is a cadastral district of Prague, Czech Republic. Most of Žižkov lies in the municipal and administrative district of Prague 3, except for very small parts which are in Prague 8 and Prague 10. Prior to 1922, Žižkov was an independent city. The district is named after Hussite military leader Jan Žižka. It is situated south of Vitkov hill, site of the Battle of Vitkov Hill on 14 July 1420, where Žižka's peasant army decisively defeated the forces of Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor. General character of the neighborhood Žižkov was historically a working-class district, and was sometimes referred to as "Red Žižkov", because so many of its inhabitants supported left-wing parties. Josef Václav Myslbek
Josef Václav Myslbek (20 June 1848 – 2 June 1922) was a Czech sculptor and medalist credited with founding the modern Czech sculpting style.Stech, V. V. Josef Vaclav Myslbek, Prague, 1954. Artia. Life Josef grew up poor in a suburb of Prague. His family pushed him to become a shoemaker but he shirked the duty by getting a job with a succession of Czech sculptors. There was no school program for sculpting so he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague instead. Afterwards he opened his own sculpting studio. He became greatly inspired by the French sculpting style as well as related arts such as photography and literature. Josef Václav Myslbek influenced an entire generation of Czech sculptors and his students include Stanislav Sucharda, Jan Štursa and Bohumil Kafka. Myslbek is buried in Prague's National Cemetery. Olšany Cemeteries (''Olšanské hřbitovy'' in Czech, ''Wolschan'' in German) is the largest graveyard in Prague, Czech Republic, once laid out for as many as two million burials.
