Karakol ( ky, Каракол, Karakol, قاراقول, ; zh, 卡拉科尔), formerly Przhevalsk (russian: Пржевальск), is the fourth-largest city in Kyrgyzstan, near the eastern tip of Lake Issyk-Kul, about from the Kyrgyzstan–China border and from the capital Bishkek. It is the administrative capital of Issyk-Kul Region. Its area is , and its resident population was 84,351 in 2021 (both including Pristan'-Przheval'sk). To the north, on highway A363, is Tüp, and to the southwest Jeti-Ögüz resort. History A Russian military outpost founded on 1 July 1869, Karakol grew in the 19th century after explorers came to map the peaks and valleys separating Kyrgyzstan from China. Karakol ( kk, Қаракөл) is a lake in the Moiynkum District, Jambyl Region, Kazakhstan. The lake is located to the east of Ulanbel village. Although the lake water is somewhat bitter, it can be used for watering livestock grazing in the surrounding area. Geography Karakol lies in the lower Chu river basin, roughly to the northeast of the river channel. Lake Zhalanash is located to the WSW and Kamkalykol to the southeast. Karakol Culture
Karakol culture (russian: Каракольская культура ''Karakol'skaya'' kul'tura) is a Bronze Age archaeological culture of the 2nd millennium BCE in the Altai area, contemporaneous with the Afanasiev culture. Karakol culture was discovered in 1985 near village of Karakol in Altai. In the Altai territory, the Bronze Age extended from the 3rd to the 2nd millennium BCE, bronze was a main material for tools, weapons and jewelry. At that time in the Altai territory lived people of the Karakol and Afanasiev cultures. Most of the investigated Karakol culture burials are located on the banks of the river Ursul and its tributaries. Karakol Society
The Karakol society ( tr, Karakol Cemiyeti), was a Turkish clandestine intelligence organization that fought on the side of the Turkish National Movement during the Turkish War of Independence. Formed in November 1918, it refused to merge itself with Association for the Defense of the Rights of Anatolia and Rumelia under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Its leadership was decapitated in the aftermath of the 1920 Turkish Grand National Assembly election, leading to its eventual dissolution in 1926.
