Karachi Whites Cricket Team
Karachi cricket teams competed in the Pakistani first-class cricket tournaments the Patron's Trophy and Quaid-e-Azam Trophy from 1953-54 to 2018-19. Beginning with the 2019-20 season, the city of Karachi has been represented in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy by the Sindh cricket team. Teams Owing to the strength of cricket in Karachi, from the 1956–57 season the Karachi City Cricket Association has usually fielded two, sometimes three, first-class teams. (Lahore has done the same from the 1957–58 season.) The names of the teams have varied. In the 1956–57 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy the teams were Karachi Whites (who lost the final), Karachi Blues (defeated by Karachi Whites in a semi-final) and Karachi Greens. In 2014–15 the two latest team names made their debuts: Karachi Dolphins (in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold League) and Karachi Zebras (in the Silver League). First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis. 1954–55 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy
The 1954–55 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was a first-class cricket competition that was held in Pakistan from 29 October 1954 to 24 April 1955. It was the second edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. The competition was contested as a knockout tournament by nine teams, an increase of two from the first season, representing both regions and government departments; East Pakistan cricket team and Baluchistan made their first appearances in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. 1953–54 winner Bahawalpur received a bye through to the semi-finals. 2016 Pakistan Super League
The 2016 Pakistan Super League (or for sponsorship reasons HBL PSL 2016) was the debut season of the Pakistan Super League which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The tournament featured five teams and was held from 4 February 2016 to 23 February 2016 in the United Arab Emirates. The opening ceremony and first match of the tournament were held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 4 February 2016. The final was held in Dubai on 23 February and saw Islamabad United defeating Quetta Gladiators by 6 wickets to win the first title. Dwayne Smith of Islamabad United was awarded the man of the match award for his innings of 73 runs from 51 balls. Ravi Bopara of the Karachi Kings was named player of the tournament. Karachi Port Trust Cricket Team
Karachi Port Trust (KPT) was a Pakistani domestic cricket team, sponsored by the Karachi Port Trust. They competed in first-class and List A cricket for two seasons, in 2003−04 and 2004–05. They were set to return to first-class cricket in 2015–16 having won the Patron's Trophy Grade II the previous season, but following restructuring of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy by the Pakistan Cricket Board, they failed to make it through the newly introduced qualifying tournament. Mansoor Ahmed Batt (7 January 1968 – 12 May 2018) is a hockey player. Career Ahmed played as a goalkeeper and Captain for the Pakistan national hockey team from 1986 to 2000. He played 338 International matches and participated in three Olympic Games. He became the recipient of a bronze medal in 1992 Olympic Games. Muhammad Moin Khan ( ur, ; born 23 September 1971) is a Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer, primarily a wicketkeeper-batsman, who remained a member of the Pakistani national cricket team from 1990 to 2004.
