Cinema Of Karnataka
Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film ''Sati Sulochana'' directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded ''South India Movietone'' in Bangalore. Major literary works have been adapted to the Kannada screen such as B. V. Anuradha Mehta
Anuradha Mehta is a former Indian actress and former model who appeared in Telugu and Kannada films. Career She made her debut with the Telugu movie ''Arya'', by which she gained popularity and applause for her performance. After the success of ''Arya'', she appeared in 2005 Telugu romance film written, produced and directed by E. V. V. Satyanarayana.she starred along with Aryan Rajesh, Allari Naresh, Rama Prabha, and Suman. Tarun Chandra
Taarun Chandrra (born 27 April 1983) is an Indian actor based in Kannada Film Industry. He made his film debut in the multi-starrer '' Khushi'' (2003) and has since then acted in various films, notably being, ''Geleya'' (2007), ''Love Guru'' (2009) and ''Gaana Bajaana'' (2010). Early life and career Taarun was born in Bangalore. He graduated his bachelor of commerce degree from MES College, Bangalore. Ramkumar
Ramkumar is an Indian actor and film producer known for his work in Kannada cinema. He made his acting debut in Peraala's 1990 action film '' Aavesha''. The same year, he played a brief role in Rajendra Singh Babu's war film '' Muthina Haara'' (1990). He turned producer for the film '' Pandavaru'' (2006), in which he acted as well. With his good looks, he was considered one of the "Chocolate heroes" of the 1990s and his acting skills were well appreciated. As of 2013, Ram kumar has acted in over 40 Kannada feature films. Radhika Kumaraswamy (born 1 November 1986), credited as Radhika and as Kutty Radhika in Tamil films, is an Indian actress. She has primarily appeared in Kannada films. Career Radhika started her acting career with the Kannada film ''Neela Megha Shama'' (2002) when she had just completed her ninth class. Girija (born 18 September 1975), known by her screen name Shruti, is an Indian actress, television personality and politician. As an actress, she predominantly appears in Kannada film industry. She is currently serving as chief secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party's women's wing in its Karnataka cadre. In addition to Kannada, Shruti has appeared in a handful of Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films. She was among the leading actresses in Kannada cinema during the 1990s and has won three Karnataka State Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards South in her career spanning over 25 years. ''Navashakthi Vaibhava'' is a 2008 Indian Kannada-language drama film written by J K Bharavi and Chindodi Bangaresh and directed by Om Sai Prakash. It features Ramkumar and Shruti in the lead roles. Gurukiran or Gurukiran Shetty is an Indian music director of the Kannada film industry in India. He started his career as a music director of the Kannada movie '' A'', directed and acted by Upendra. Kotturu Chikkarangappa Raghunath (born 17 April 1965), known by his screen name Rangayana Raghu, is an Indian film and stage actor, known for his work in Kannada cinema. Portraying mostly comic and negative-shaded characters, he has appeared in over 250 films. Prior to acting in films, he worked as a stage actor with B. V. Karanth's theatre group Rangayana, from 1988 to 1999. He made his debut in films in 1995 with ''Suggi'', which got shelved. Vijay Raghavendra
Vijay Raghavendra is an Indian actor who appears predominantly in Kannada films. Referred to popularly as " Chinnari Mutha", Vijay is the son of producer S. A. Chinne Gowda and nephew of actor Dr.Rajkumar. Vijay started his career as a child artist through the film ''Chalisuva Modagalu'' (1982) and won critical acclaims for his performances in ''Chinnari Mutha'' (1993) and ''Kotreshi Kanasu'' (1994). Chandrashekhara Kambara
Chandrashekhara Kambara ( kn, ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ ಕಂಬಾರ; born 2 January 1937) is a prominent Indian poet, playwright, folklorist, film director in Kannada language and the founder-vice-chancellor of Kannada University in Hampi also president of the Sahitya Akademi, country's premier literary institution, after Vinayak Krishna Gokak (1983) and U.R. Ananthamurthy (1993). He is known for effective adaptation of the North Karnataka dialect of the Kannada language in his plays, and poems, in a similar style as in the works of D.R. Bendre. Kambara's plays mainly revolve around folk or mythology interlinked with contemporary issues, inculcating modern lifestyle with his hard-hitting poems. He has become a pioneer of such literature. His contribution as a playwright is significant not only to Kannada theatre but also to the Indian theatre in general as he achieved a blend of the folk and the modern theatrical forms.
