''Kalle Stropp och Grodan Boll räddar Hönan'' is a 1987 Swedish animated short film directed by Jan Gissberg about the two eponymous characters created by Thomas Funck. Funck also provides all voices. The film was released theatrically in Sweden on 12 December 1987. It was followed in 1991 by the feature-length film ''Charlie Strapp and Froggy Ball Flying High'', made by the same team. Plot One day, Charlie Strapp's good friend The Chicken is kidnapped by two villains Pudding and Karlsson. Charlie Strapp, who has just been invited by Froggy Ball to get in his new car, constructed by Sheet-Niklas and himself mainly out of an old shoe and a well-shaken soda bottle, begins the chase. But the start is miserable as their other friend The Parrot also ends up being kidnapped. ''Charlie Strapp and Froggy Ball Flying High'' ( sv, Kalle Stropp och Grodan Boll på svindlande äventyr) is a 1991 Swedish animated feature film directed by Jan Gissberg after an original script by Thomas Funck, using Funck's already well-established characters. It follows a shorter film made by the same team in 1987, '' Kalle Stropp och Grodan Boll räddar Hönan''. This is the first time since before 1954 where a Kalle Stropp production features voice acting by others than only Funck himself, only with the exception of children that had participated in other productions as well. It was dubbed into English by Filmor and Cinélume in 1998 and was only released in Canada straight-to-video under the name ''Charlie and Froggy'' from Alliance Films. The majority of the characters' names were changed and four minutes of footage were removed. Jan Gissberg
Jan Gissberg (born 13 August 1948) is a Swedish cartoonist, animator and film director.''Nationalencyklopedin'' bibliographical entry about Gissberg, retrieved 16 November 2013 After studying at Konstfack in Stockholm he started working as an animator under Stig Lasseby, and later went on to direct by himself. As a cartoonist he is best known for drawing Rudolf Petersson's 91:an Karlsson, and for his high production speed. Gissberg started drawing already as a child. After high school, he trained in the advertising/illustration line at Konstfack but interrupted his studies to devote himself to animation and cartooning. He also contributed to the Lilla Fridolf series and was one of the artists behind Aron Rapp from the 1970s, together with Magnus Knutsson. In 1992, Jan Gissberg won a Guldbagge Award in Sweden for his artistic career.
