KHAY (100.7 FM, "100.7 KHAY") is a commercial radio station that is licensed to Ventura, California and broadcasts to the Oxnard—Ventura area. The station is owned by Cumulus Media and airs a country music format featuring programming from Nash FM. History The station signed on January 1, 1962 as KVEN-FM and simulcast the middle of the road music format of its AM counterpart KVEN. In 1965, Carroll R. Academy Of Country Music Awards
The Academy of Country Music Awards, also known as the ACM Awards, were first held in 1966, honoring the industry's accomplishments during the previous year. It was the first country music awards program held by a major organization. The academy's signature "hat" trophy was first created in 1968. The awards were first televised in 1972 on ABC. In 1979, the academy joined with Dick Clark Productions to produce the show. Dick Clark and Al Schwartz served as producers while Gene Weed served as director. Under their guidance, the show moved to NBC in 1979, then to CBS in 1998, and Amazon Prime Video in 2022. The Academy of Country Music (ACM) was founded in 1964 in Los Angeles, California as the Country & Western Music Academy. Among the founders were Eddie Miller, Tommy Wiggins, and Mickey and Chris Christensen. KVEN
KVEN (1520 AM, "La Voz 1520 AM & 96.3 FM") is a commercial radio station that is licensed to Port Hueneme, California and serves the Ventura County area. The station is owned by Gold Coast Broadcasting and broadcasts a Spanish-language news/talk format. By day, KVEN has a power of 10,000 watts. With a good radio, it can be heard up and down the Pacific Coast of California, from San Diego to Santa Barbara. Because AM 1520 is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A KOKC in Oklahoma City and WWKB in Buffalo, New York, KVEN drops its power at night to 1,000 watts to reduce interference. Middle of the road (also known by its acronym MOR) is a commercial radio format and popular music genre. Music associated with this term is strongly melodic and uses techniques of vocal harmony and light orchestral arrangements. The format was eventually rebranded as soft adult contemporary.
