K-1 The Challenge '99
This is a list of events held and scheduled by the K-1, a Japanese kickboxing promotion. The first event, K-1 Sanctuary I, took place on March 30, 1993, at KÅrakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Since its inception, K-1 events were organized by the Fighting and Entertainment Group (FEG). Following FEG's bankruptcy, rights to the K-1 brand were acquired by the Hong Kong-based K-1 Global Holdings Limited (K-1 GHL) in 2012. In 2014, M-1 Sports Media (M-1) acquired rights to use the K-1 brand exclusively in Japan, and has since been producing events for the region under the "K-1 World GP Japan" name. M-1 would ultimately acquire worldwide rights to the K-1 brand in 2023. This list does not include Krush, Krush-EX, Khaos, or K-1 Amateur events. Kickboxing
Kickboxing ( ) is a full-contact hybrid Martial arts, martial art and Boxing (other), boxing type based on punch (combat), punching and kicking. Kickboxing originated in the 1950s to 1970s. The fight takes place in a boxing ring, normally with boxing gloves, mouth guards, shorts, and bare feet to favor the use of kicks. Kickboxing is practiced for self-defense, general physical fitness, fitness, or for competition. Some styles of kickboxing include: full contact karate, Muay Thai, Japanese kickboxing, Lethwei, Sanda (sport), Sanda, and Savate. Although since the dawn of humanity people have faced each other in hand-to-hand combat, the first documentation on the use of kicking and punching in sports combat is from ancient Greece and ancient India. Nippon Budokan
The , often shortened to simply Budokan, is an indoor arena in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. It was originally built for the inaugural Olympic judo competition in the 1964 Summer Olympics. The Budokan was a popular venue for Japanese professional wrestling for a time, and it has hosted numerous other sporting events, such as the 1967 Women's Volleyball World Championship. Most recently, the arena hosted the Olympic debut of karate in the 2020 Summer Olympics, as well as the judo competition at both the 2020 Summer Olympics and the 2020 Summer Paralympics. While its primary purpose is to host martial arts contests, the arena has gained additional fame as one of the world's most outstanding musical performance venues. A number of famous acts have played at the Budokan. The Beatles were the first rock group to play there, in a series of five concerts, each lasting 30 minutes, from June 30 to July 2, 1966.
