K. Rani (singer)
K. Rani (4 September 1942 – 13 July 2018) was an Indian playback singer who has sung songs in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali, Sinhalese and Uzbek. Rani was the first female singer from India to sing in Sinhalese and Uzbek, and sang the national anthem of Sri Lanka (the " Sri Lanka Matha"). She performed before President of India Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, and Indian National Congress leader K. Kamaraj called her ''"Innisai Rani"''. Rani was invited to perform at the Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya centennial, travelling in an aeroplane chartered by the government of Karnataka. Raj Kapoor provided the rhythms when she sang Hindi songs, including ''"O Maine Pyar Kia, Mai Kya Karu Ram Mujhe Budda Mil Gaya"'', at a stage show. A playback singer, also known as a ghost singer, is a singer whose singing is pre-recorded for use in films. Playback singers record songs for soundtracks, and actors or actresses lip-sync the songs for cameras; the actual singer does not appear on the screen. Ghantasala Venkateswararao (4 December 1922 – 11 February 1974), known mononymously by his surname as Ghantasala, was an Indian playback singer and film composer known for his works predominantly in Telugu and Kannada cinema and also in Tamil, Malayalam, Tulu and Hindi language films. He is considered as one of the greatest singers of Telugu cinema. In 1970, he received the Padma Shri award, India's fourth highest civilian award for his contribution to Indian cinema. Ogirala Ramachandra Rao ( te, ఓగిరాల రామచంద్రరావు) (1905–1957) was an Indian actor, music director and multi instrumentalist, predominant in Telugu cinema. Early life and career Ogirala was born on 10 September 1905 at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh to Ogirala Janardhana Sharma and Subbamma. Egodahage George Wilfred Alwis Samarakoon (13 January 1911 – 2 April 1962) known as Ananda Samarakoon was a Sri Lankan (Sinhalese) composer and musician. He composed the Sri Lankan national anthem " Namo Namo Matha" and is considered the father of artistic Sinhala music and founder of the modern Sri Lankan Sinhala ''Geeta Sahitya'' (Song Literature).
