K. R. Mohanan
K. R. Mohanan (11 December 1947 – 25 June 2017) born at thiruvathra Chavakadu Thrissur was a Malayalam film director best known for his critically acclaimed works, ''Ashwathama'' (1978), ''Purushartham'' (1987) and '' Swaroopam'' (1992). He studied at the Pune Film Institute. Mohanan was the Chairman of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy from 2006 to 2011 and the Director of International Film Festival of Kerala. He died of serious illness on June 25, 2017, aged 69. Malayalam (; , ) is a Dravidian language spoken in the Indian state of Kerala and the union territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry (Mahé district) by the Malayali people. It is one of 22 scheduled languages of India. Malayalam was designated a "Classical Language of India" in 2013. Malayalam has official language status in Kerala, and Puducherry ( Mahé), and is also the primary spoken language of Lakshadweep, and is spoken by 34 million people in India. Malayalam is also spoken by linguistic minorities in the neighbouring states; with significant number of speakers in the Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada districts of Karnataka, and Kanyakumari, district of Tamil Nadu. The association was founded in 1977 when a group of film journalists met at the behest of K. Aniyan, and Baby. Kerala State Film Awards
The Kerala State Film Awards are the film awards for a motion picture made in Kerala. The awards started in 1969 by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala and since 1998 the awards have been bestowed by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on behalf of the Department of Cultural Affairs. The awardees are decided by an independent jury formed by the academy and the Department of Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Kerala. The jury usually consists of eminent personalities from the film field. For the awards for literature on cinema a separate jury is formed. The academy annually invites films for the award and the jury analyses the films that are submitted before deciding the winners. Swaroopam
''Swaroopam'' ( ml, സ്വരൂപം) is a 1992 Malayalam film written and directed by K. R. Mohanan, starring Sreenivasan, Sandhya Rajendran and V. K. Sriraman. It won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam. Plot Shekharan is a farmer. He lives in the countryside with his wife and two children. Shekharan is a hard worker and has no time for anything but his job. He progressively builds up his assets and is saving money for the construction of his house. An old man, a relative of Shekharan, comes to his house. The old man tells him that Shekharan is part of a large family which has been privileged enough to be resourceful due to the boon of a great grandfather of the family.
