Jürg Baur
Jürg Baur (11 November 1918 – 31 January 2010) was a German composer whose works include ''Incontri and Mutazioni.'' Baur studied at the Cologne University of Music and taught there in his later years. Baur was also awarded the Federal Cross of Merit. Education Baur was born in Düsseldorf, where he achieved early recognition as a composer at the age of 18, when his First String Quartet was premiered at the Düsseldorf Hindenburg Secondary School by the then-famous Prisca Quartet. He studied from 1937 to 1948 (interrupted by army service from 1939 to 1945, including several months as a Russian prisoner of war) at the Hochschule für Musik Köln ( Cologne University of Music): composition with Philipp Jarnach, piano with Karl Hermann Pillney, and organ and sacred music with Michael Schneider. Jürg Fortunat Federspiel (28 June 1931 – 12 January 2007) was a Swiss writer, born in Kemptthal, Canton Zurich. Federspiel authored more than 20 novels and short story collections. Background and education Federspiel grew up in Davos and attended secondary school in Basel. From 1951 he worked as a journalist and film critic for several Swiss newspapers, and spent time in Germany, France, Great Britain, Ireland and the USA. Career His first notable work was a collection of short stories, ''Orangen und Tode'' ("Oranges and death") in 1961. In the English-speaking world his best-known work was '' The Ballad of Typhoid Mary''. A historical novel about the life of Mary Mallon, it was published in German in 1982, and in English translation a year later by Random House. Jürg Martin Fröhlich (born 4 July 1946 in Schaffhausen) is a Swiss mathematician and theoretical physicist. He is best known for introducing rigorous techniques for the analysis of statistical mechanics models, in particular continuous symmetry breaking (infrared bounds), and for pioneering the study of topological phases of matter using low-energy effective field theories. Biography In 1965 Fröhlich began to study mathematics and physics at Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule Zürich. Jürg Kreienbühl (August 12, 1932, Basel – October 30, 2007, Cormeilles-en-Parisis) was a switzerland, Swiss and French people, French painter. Life After his high school graduation, Jürg Kreienbühl hesitated between pursuing scientific or artistic studies and finally completed an apprenticeship as a house painter in Basel. Earning a scholarship from his city, he traveled to Paris in 1956 to work and to make a living from his painting. He first settled in Colombes where he painted rubbish tips, cemeteries and decomposing bodies of animals. Two years later, he ended up to move to the slum area of Bezons near Paris in an old wheelless bus. There he lived in difficult conditions among homeless, gypsies and North Africans who became his friends and models. Four years later, he left the slum to settle in an apartment near Argenteuil.
