Jógvan Justinusson was, from 1629 to 1654, Lawman of the Faroe Islands. Jógvan Justinusson came from Hattarvík in the Faroe Islands. Jógvan Poulsen
Jógvan Poulsen was the Lawman of the Faroe Islands twice, from 1654 to 1655, and from 1662 to 1677. Jógvan Poulsen was Faroese. He married the daughter of previous Lawman Jógvan Justinusson. Jógvan Poulsen was raised on a farm in Oyri, before he became elected leader of the Lagting. King Frederik III of Denmark did not like Jógvan Poulsen as Lawman, and replaced him with the Dane Balzer Jacobsen, one of Christoffer Gabel's supporters. Gabel at this time had a monopoly on trade to and from the Faroe Islands, so this was much better for him. Jacobsen was Lawman until 1661, when Jógvan Poulsen again took over. His son, Jákup Jógvansson Jákup Jógvansson was Lawman of the Faroe Islands from 1677 to 1679. Jákup Jógvansson was Faroese, and son of former Lawman Jógvan Poulsen. Hattarvík
Hattarvík ( da, Hattervig) is a small village on the east side of the island of Fugloy, Faroe Islands, and is the easternmost settlement in the Faroes archipelago. The village is encircled by high mountains on three sides. History Hattarvik was founded in 900. The stone church was built in 1899. Some old stone houses are currently being restored. These houses are said to relate to the '' Flokksmenn''. These were three strong men who wanted to seize power in the Faroe Islands in the 15th century. Transportation Hattarvik is reachable by a ferry once or twice a day from Hvannasund and also by a helicopter three times a week from Klaksvík and Tórshavn. A road leads to the other village on Fugloy, Kirkja in the south. Population The population estimates range from 5 to 44. There were 11 people in the village as of 2020. The Løgting (pronounced ; da, Lagtinget) is the unicameral parliament of the Faroe Islands, an autonomous territory within the Danish Realm. The name literally means "''Law Thing''"—that is, a law assembly—and derives from Old Norse ''lǫgþing'', which was a name given to ancient assemblies. A ''ting'' or ''þing'' has existed on the Faroe Islands for over a millennium and the Løgting was the highest authority on the islands in the Viking era. From 1274 to 1816 it functioned primarily as a judicial body, whereas the modern Løgting established in 1852 is a parliamentary assembly, which gained legislative power when home rule was introduced in 1948. The Manx Tynwald and the Icelandic Alþing are the two other modern parliaments with ties back to the old Norse assemblies of Europe.
