Jérémy Roy (ice Hockey)
Jérémy Roy (born May 14, 1997) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing with HC Vityaz in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Roy was drafted with the 31st overall pick by the Sharks in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Junior Roy was drafted by the Sherbrooke Phoenix 4th overall in the 2013 QMJHL Entry Draft. In his first season with Sherbrooke he was named to the 2013–14 QMJHL All-Rookie Team and awarded the Raymond Lagacé Trophy as the league's Defensive Rookie of the Year. The following season his outstanding play was rewarded when he was chosen to skate in the 2015 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. Defenceman (ice Hockey)
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). They were once called cover-point. In regular play, two defencemen complement three forwards and a goaltender on the ice. The Canadian men's national under 18 ice hockey team is part of a three-stage Program of Excellence beginning with the Under-17 regional teams and ending with the National Junior Team. The primary objectives of the Under-18 program are to identify, evaluate, and condition players to the rigors of international competition by giving first exposure to off-shore officiating, ice-surfaces, and travel. The Tipos Extraliga (Slovak Extraliga) is the highest-level ice hockey league in Slovakia. From the 2018–19 season to the 2020–21 season, the league included one or two teams from Hungary. In 2009, it was ranked by the IIHF as the fifth strongest league in Europe and in 2012, it was ranked by ''The Hockey News'' as the sixth-strongest league in the world behind the NHL, KHL, Swedish Hockey League, SM-liiga and Czech Extraliga. The 2021–22 Slovak Extraliga season was the 29th season of the Slovak Extraliga, the highest ice hockey league in Slovakia.
