János Petrenkó
János Petrenkó (30 March 1940 – 3 March 2020) was a Hungarian industrialist, inventor and politician, member of the National Assembly (MP) from 1990 to 1994. He was noted as owner of the first private large company, the rolling mill for heavy products within the Ózd Metallurgical Works after the fall of communism in Hungary. Career Petrenkó was born into a mining family with eight children in Ózd on 30 March 1940. His parents were György Petrenkó and Jolán Král. He grew up in the mining settlement of Bánszállás (today a borough in Ózd). He finished elementary studies there. He studied electro-mechanical engineering since 1958, at the age of 14. He worked for Ózd Metallurgical Works for 25 years. National Assembly Of Hungary
The National Assembly ( hu, Országgyűlés, lit=Country Assembly) is the parliament of Hungary. The unicameral body consists of 199 (386 between 1990 and 2014) members elected to 4-year terms. Election of members is done using a semi-proportional representation: a mixed-member majoritarian representation with partial scorporo, compensation via transfer votes and mixed single vote; involving single-member districts and one list vote; parties must win at least 5% of the popular vote in order to gain list seats assembly. The Assembly includes 25 standing committees to debate and report on introduced bills and to supervise the activities of the ministers. Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén ( hu, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén megye, ; sk, Boršodsko-abovsko-zemplínska) is an administrative county (Counties of Hungary, comitatus or ''megye)'' in north-eastern Hungary (commonly called "Northern Hungary"), on the border with Slovakia (Košice Region). 1990 Hungarian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Hungary on 25 March 1990, with a second round of voting taking place in all but five single member constituencies on 8 April. They were the first completely free and competitive elections to be held in the country since 1945, and only the second completely free elections with universal suffrage in the country's history. The conservative, nationalist Hungarian Democratic Forum (MDF) beat the liberal and more internationalist Alliance of Free Democrats, which had spearheaded opposition to Communist rule in 1989, to become the largest party in parliament. The Hungarian Socialist Party, the former Communist party, suffered a crushing defeat, winning only 33 seats for fourth place. Ózd () is a town in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, Northern Hungary, from the county seat of Miskolc. Ózd is the second largest municipality in the county. History The area has been inhabited since ancient times. The village of Ózd was first mentioned in 1272.
