In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. Nemzeti Bajnokság I/A (men's Basketball)
The Nemzeti Bajnokság I/A ( en, National Championship I/A, commonly abbreviated NB I/A) is the highest level league of club men's basketball in Hungary. Format The league comprises 14 teams. A NB I/A season is split into a league stage and a playoff/playout stage. At the end of the league stage (14 teams) the top 5 teams play another league stage, another 5 play with each other, and then the top 8 teams qualify for the playoff stage. The playoffs are played in "Best of five" format. The winning team of the final round are the champions of that season. The two bottom teams play with each other in "Best of three" format. PVSK Panthers
PVSK-Panthers, for sponsorship reasons known as PVSK-Veolia or simply Pécs, is the men's basketball club based in Pécs, Hungary. It were the oldest non-Budapest based basketball club playing in the NB I/A, the first division until 2022. They played 53 seasons in the top division, which is the second most after MAFC. PVSK-Panthers won one trophy in its history: the Hungarian Cup in 2009. History The team was founded in 1944, they played in the 1st division from 1946 to 1950, then after 4 year, from 1955 to 1985 continuously (with once in 1972 in the 2nd league). In 1985 they fall to the 2nd, in 1992 to the 3rd league. In 1994 they moved to Pécsvárad. In 2000 they won the 3rd division and moved back to Pécs, in 2003 they returned into the top flight. Szolnoki Olajbányász is a professional basketball team based in Szolnok, Hungary. The team also goes by the name of ''Olaj'', which is a well-known nickname in the country. The club competes in the Hungarian League. Established in 1959, it is one of the most successful teams in Hungarian basketball with eight Hungarian championships. EuroBasket 2017
EuroBasket 2017 was the 40th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe and held between 31 August and 17 September 2017. Beginning from 2017, the continental championships take place every four years with a similar system of qualification as for the FIBA Basketball World Cup. Like the previous edition, the tournament was co-hosted by four countries. Games in the group stage were held in Turkey, Finland, Israel and Romania.
