Juuru Parish
Juuru Parish ( et, Juuru vald) is a former Estonian municipality located in Rapla County. It had a population of 1,627 (as of 31 March 2006) and an area of 152.4 km². In 2017, Juuru Parish was merged into Rapla Parish. Settlements Juuru Parish has one small borough (Juuru, with 597 inhabitants) and 14 villages: Atla, Härgla, Helda, Hõreda, Jaluse, Järlepa, Kalda, Lõiuse, Mahtra, Maidla, Orguse, Pirgu, Sadala, and Vankse. Pirgu
Pirgu is a village in Rapla Parish, Rapla County in northwestern Estonia. Between 1991–2017 (until the administrative reform of Estonian municipalities) the village was located in Juuru Parish. Pirgu manor Pirgu (german: Pirk) estate was formed in 1662, when the lands were separated from Angerja castle estate. Subsequently, it has belonged to various Baltic German families. The last Baltic nobility, local aristocratic landowner was forced to leave the estate following the sweeping confiscations of land enacted during the Estonian land reform of 1919. Following this, the manor house fell into disrepair and by the 1980s was reduced to ruins. At the initiative of six local farms, restoration works were undertaken in 1987, and the manor house restored to its earlier appearance (which it originally received sometime after 1819). It is a classical architecture, classicist building, with a four-columned Ionic order, Ionic portico dominating the front façade. References Villa ... Maidla, Juuru Parish
Maidla is a village in Rapla Parish, Rapla County in northwestern Estonia. Between 1991 and 2017 (until the administrative reform of Estonian municipalities) the village was located in Juuru Parish. Maidla manor Maidla (german: Maidel) manor has a history that goes back to at least 1452. During the Middle Ages, there was a fortified manor or a small castle on the site, parts of which has been incorporated into the eastern tower of the current, later building. The current building dates from the second half of the 18th century, while it received its current look during a reconstruction in the early part of the 19th century. The interior is characterised by its 19th-century decoration such as a well-preserved neo-renaissance coffered ceiling. The estate has belonged to several local Baltic German aristocratic families throughout its history, notably the Taube, von Fersen and von Maydell families. Lõiuse is a village in Rapla Parish, Rapla County in northwestern Estonia. It has an area of 13.48 km² and a population of 108 (as of 1 February 2010). Lõiuse was first mentioned in 1241 as ''Leus'' village in the Danish Census Book. Järlepa
Järlepa is a village in Rapla Parish, Rapla County, Estonia. It has an area of and a population of 206 (as of 1 February 2010). Between 1991–2017 (until the administrative reform of Estonian municipalities) the village was located in Juuru Parish. In 2010 Sadala village was detached from the lands of Järlepa and Lõiuse villages. Järlepa manor Järlepa (german: Jerlep) was founded after 1688. The present building was erected in 1804 in a classicist style. It was devastated during the uprising in 1905 but later restored. During the Soviet occupation of Estonia, the manor house was used as the office of a collective farm. The most famous resident of the manor was dramatist August von Kotzebue, who acquired the estate in 1804. During his time, a small theatre was put up at the estate, and Kotzebue's plays were often performed.
