Justin Valentin
Justin Davis Valentin (born 14 April 1971) is a Seychellois politician and teacher. In 2018, he was appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Seychelles. As of 3 November 2020, he serves as the Minister of Education and Human Resources Development, succeeding Jeanne Siméon. Biography Valentin received his diploma in education from Seychelles Polytechnic. He continued his studies in Australia, and graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the Edith Cowan University, followed by a master's degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia, and a doctorate from King's College London. He specialised in science and mathematics. He first worked as a teacher and continued his career as a researcher at the Ministry of Education. In 1993, Valentin published ''Testanman Rezete'', a novel written in Seychellois Creole, the French-based creole language spoken in the Seychelles. Wavel Ramkalawan
Wavel Ramkalawan (born 15 March 1959) is a Seychellois politician and Anglican priest who has been serving as the president of Seychelles since 26 October 2020. Ramkalawan was an opposition MP from 1993 to 2011 and 2016 to 2020. He also served as the Leader of the Opposition from 1998 to 2011 and 2016 to 2020. On 25 October 2020, Ramkalawan won the presidential election, the country's first such victory for an opposition candidate since independence, marking its first successful peaceful transition of power. Joëlle Perreau (born 10 June 1974) is a Seychellois linguist who has served as the 5th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Seychelles since 1 January 2021. Career After finishing secondary school, Perreau completed her two years of national service on Ste. Anne Island and in Port Launay (Mahé Island). She then studied for her O-Levels and A-Levels at the Seychelles Polytechnic in Anse Royale. As a student, Perreau originally wanted to become a psychologist, but later decided to study French teaching and linguistics. After completing her A-Levels in December 1994, she entered a 16-month teacher training program between Seychelles (7 months) and France (9 months). Perreau then became a secondary school teacher. She alternately taught in Seychelles for 6 months, and studied in France for 6 months.
