Justin Freeman
Justin Michael Freeman (born October 22, 1986) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Cincinnati Reds. Professional career Freeman was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 32nd round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft out Kennesaw State University. He was called up to the majors for the first time on April 15, 2013. Freeman made his Major League debut on April 17, 2013 versus the 2013 Philadelphia Phillies season, Philadelphia Phillies, giving up 2 earned runs in 1 inning of relief pitching. He was designated for assignment on August 30, 2013. He became a free agent after the 2014 season. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum. There are many different types of pitchers, such as the starting pitcher, relief pitcher, middle reliever, lefty specialist, setup man, and the closer. Traditionally, the pitcher also bats.
